2014–15 Bengaluru FC Season
The 2014–15 season was Bengaluru FC's second season in the I-League since its establishment in 2013. This season was the first season that Bengaluru FC competed in Asian competition. Bengaluru began the season as the defending champions, but could not defend the title as they could manage only a draw in the last game against the winners Mohun Bagan, but the club had the longest unbeaten run (13 games). In continental cups, they lost in the first round of the 2015 AFC Champions League qualifying play-off and then participated in group stage of the AFC Cup, where they reached Round of 16. In domestic cups, Bengaluru FC started the season with the 2014 Durand Cup where they lost in semi-finals to Salgaocar on penalties. Bengaluru FC also participated in Federation Cup. The 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup was the 17th FIFA U-17 World Cup, a biennial international football tournament contested by men's under-17 national teams. Organised by FIFA, the tournament took place in India between 6 and 28 October 2017, after the country was awarded the hosting rights on 5 December 2013. It was a venue in three editions of the I-League, top-tier football league in the country, and home of Bengaluru FC for one season, when they won I-League trophy in first attempt. The 2015 AFC Champions League qualifying play-off was played from 4 to 17 February 2015. A total of 25 teams competed in the qualifying play-off to decide eight of the 32 places in the group stage of the 2015 AFC Champions League. Format The bracket for the qualifying play-off, which consisted of three rounds (preliminary round 1, preliminary round 2, and play-off round), was determined by the AFC based on the association ranking of each team. Each tie was played as a single match, with the team from the higher-ranked association hosting the match. Extra time and penalty shoot-out were used to decide the winner if necessary. The 2015–16 season was the third in the history of Bengaluru Football Club. It began on 1 June 2015 and concluded on 31 May 2016, with competitive matches occurring between January and May. The club ended their I-League campaign as champions for the second time, only winning by two points ahead of second placed Mohun Bagan. In the Federation Cup, Bengaluru were eliminated early in the first round, suffering defeat to Aizawl. In the AFC Cup, Bengaluru managed to make it past the Round of 16, defeating Kitchee.
