2013–14 I-League
The 2013–14 I-League (known as the ''Airtel I-League'' for sponsorship reasons) was the seventh season of the I-League, the top-tier Indian professional league for football clubs, since its establishment in 2007. The season began on 21 September 2013, and ended on 28 April 2014. Churchill Brothers were the defending champions, having won their second I-League title in the previous season. On 21 April 2014, Bengaluru FC were crowned champions with one game remaining, winning their first ever I-League title by defeating Dempo 2–4 at Fatorda Stadium. Bengaluru FC also created history by becoming the first team ever to win the I-League title in its debut season. On 28 April 2014, Mohammedan were relegated from the I-League when Churchill Brothers defeated Salgaocar 2–1, and hence survived relegation. I-League
The I-League (known as Hero I-League for sponsorship ties with Hero MotoCorp) is the second-tier men's professional football competition of the Indian football league system. It is currently contested by 12 clubs across the country with the winners getting promotion to play in the premier division, the Indian Super League. The competition was founded in 2007 as the successor to the National Football League, with the first season starting in November 2007. The league was launched as India's first ever top-tier professional football league with the aim to increase the player pool for the India national team. I-League operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the I-League 2 and at first only promotion system with the Indian Super League, from the 2022–23 season. Salgaocar Football Club is an Indian professional football club based in Vasco, Goa, that competes in the Goa Professional League. They have also played in the I-League, then top flight of Indian football league system. Founded in 1956, the club is owned by the V. M. Salgaocar Group of Companies. Air India Football Club is an Indian professional football club, founded by Anand Prajapati in 1952, based in Mumbai, Maharashtra. They are sponsored by Air India, and have enjoyed some success in the MDFA Elite League. They have also competed in the I-League, then top tier of Indian football league system. 2013 I-League 2nd Division
The 2013 I-League 2nd Division is the sixth season of the league under its current title. The season will begin on 9 March 2013. The original 21 clubs who would participate in the 2nd Division were officially announced on 25 January 2013, however since then 5 more clubs were accepted into the league. As a result of the tournament, the winner and the runner-up, Rangdajied United and Mohammedan respectively, were promoted to 2013–14 I-League. Maria Rebello
Maria Piedade Rebello is an Indian former footballer and professional football referee who officiates primarily in the I-League, having been appointed to the list of I-League referees before the 2013–14 season, and has been a FIFA listed referee since 2011. Rebello is the only FIFA-listed women's referee from India. She is also the former captain of the India women's football team. Early life and footballing career Born in Curtorim, Goa, Rebello started to play football from a young age with the local boys. She then played competitive football for her school side on less than satisfactory fields with makeshift goals which she said made her "rough and tough" and thus made it easier for her to become a footballer. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, locally known as Fatorda Stadium, is a multi-purpose stadium situated in Margao, Goa, India. The venue has been used to host both international football as well as International cricket matches.However after the emergence of I-League in 2007 and Indian Super League in 2014, the stadium is turned into football only stadium. It is Goa's only international stadium and has a seating capacity of 19000 with additional 1000 in reserve.
