2014–15 Baltic Basketball League
The 2014–15 Baltic Basketball League was the 11th season of the Baltic Basketball League. This season’s competition included 8 teams from Estonia, 6 each from Latvia and Lithuania, and one team apiece representing Finland and Russia. For the regular season the teams were divided into three groups and competed in a round-robin competition system, with each team facing their opponent twice. Top four teams of each group and the best fifth placed team qualified for the eight-finals. The three teams who participated in FIBA EuroChallenge and Eurocup competitions – Šiauliai, Tartu Ülikool/Rock and Ventspils – begin their journey at the start of the play-offs, seeded respectively first, second and third based on last season’s results. The 2013–14 Baltic Basketball League was the 10th anniversary season of the Baltic Basketball League. This time the format featured 21 teams – 6 from Lithuania, 6 from Estonia, 5 from Latvia, 2 from Kazakhstan and 1 from Sweden and Finland. For the regular season the teams were divided into three groups of seven teams and competed in a round-robin competition system, with each team facing their opponent twice. Top five teams of each group and the best sixth placed team qualified for the eight-finals. All play-off games were played in home-and-away series. The Finals were a Lithuanian clash as Šiauliai took the 2014 title by beating TonyBet 140–123 on aggregate score. Estonian team Tartu Ülikool/Rock won their second Baltic League bronze by beating Tampereen Pyrintö of Finland with aggregate score of 149–127. FIBA EuroChallenge
FIBA EuroChallenge (called the FIBA Europe League in 2003–05, and FIBA EuroCup in 2005–08) was the 3rd-tier level transnational men's professional continental club basketball competition in Europe, from 2003 to 2015. It was organized and run by FIBA Europe. It is not to be confused with the FIBA EuroCup Challenge – the now defunct 4th-tier level transnational men's professional continental club basketball competition in Europe, which was also organized and run by FIBA Europe, and played during the 2002–03 to 2006–07 seasons. The Latvian Basketball League (LBL; lv, Latvijas Basketbola līga) also known as the '' Pafbet'' LBL for sponsorship reasons, is the national basketball championship in Latvia; composed of 6 teams. It is considered the biggest basketball league in Latvia. The LBL is a part of Latvian Basketball Association, which is the national governing body of basketball in Latvia. BC Valga-Valka, also known as BC Valga-Valka/Maks & Moorits for sponsorship reasons, is a basketball club representing the twin towns of Valga, Estonia and Valka, Latvia. The team plays in the Latvian–Estonian Basketball League. Their home arena is the Valga Sports Hall. From 2015 to 2018 the team uniquely competed in both Estonian and Latvian domestic top leagues. Rapla KK, also known as Avis Utilitas Rapla for sponsorship reasons, is a professional basketball club based in Rapla, Estonia. The team plays in the Latvian–Estonian Basketball League. Their home arena is the Sadolin Sports Hall. History In 1996, Korvpalliklubi Rapla (Basketball Club Rapla) was founded as a division of the Rapla Sports School. TalTech Basketball is the basketball team of Tallinn University of Technology based in Tallinn, Estonia. The team plays in the Latvian–Estonian Basketball League. Their home arena is the TalTech Sports Hall. The team has won eight Estonian Championships and seven Estonian Cups. History The game of basketball was first introduced to the Tallinn Tehnikum (predecessor of the Tallinn University of Technology) in 1928. Tallinna Kalev/TLÜ is a professional basketball club based in Tallinn, Estonia. The team plays in the Latvian-Estonian Basketball League and Korvpalli Meistriliiga (KML). Their home arena is the Audentes Sports Centre. History The team was founded in 2002 as Pirita. Coached by Kalle Klandorf, the team joined the top-tier Korvpalli Meistriliiga (KML) in the 2002–03 season. BC Rakvere Tarvas is a professional basketball club based in Rakvere, Estonia. The team plays in the Latvian–Estonian Basketball League. Their home arena is the Rakvere Sports Hall. The 2013–14 Alexela Korvpalli Meistriliiga was the 89th season of the Estonian basketball league and the first under the title sponsorship of Alexela. Kalev/Cramo came into the season as defending champions of the 2012–13 KML season. The season started on 27 September 2013 and concluded on 21 May 2014 with Kalev/Cramo defeating TÜ/Rock 4 games to 0 in the 2014 KML Finals to win their 7th Estonian League title.
