2014 Úrvalsdeild
The 2014 Úrvalsdeild karla, also known as ''Pepsi-deild karla'' for sponsorship reasons, was the 103rd season of top-flight Icelandic football. Twelve teams contested the league; the defending champions were KR, who won their twenty-sixth league title in 2013. On 4 October Stjarnan won their first Úrvalsdeild karla title. Stjarnan went through the season unbeaten in the league and equalled the point record of 52 points. Teams The 2014 Úrvalsdeild will be contested by twelve clubs, ten of which played in the division the previous year. Úrvalsdeild Karla (football)
The Úrvalsdeild karla (, Men's Select Division) is the highest men's football league in Iceland. It has been played since 1912. Because of the harsh winters in Iceland, it is generally played in the spring and summer (May to September). It is governed by the Football Association of Iceland (KSI) and has 12 teams. By end of season 2015–2016, UEFA ranked the league No. 35 in Europe. From 27 April 2009, the league has had an active agreement on the league's name rights with Ölgerðin, the Icelandic franchisee for Pepsi. From the 2019 season onwards, the league is popularly referred to as Pepsi Max deildin (The Pepsi Max League). The clubs play each other home and away. Laugardalsvöllur
Laugardalsvöllur () is Iceland's national football stadium and the home venue for the Iceland national football team. It is in Reykjavík with a capacity of 9,800. History The idea of building a sport venue in Laugardalur, along with some other entertainment facilities, dates back to 1871. At that time, the population of Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland, was only about 2,000. Laugardalur was also nearly 3 km (1.9 mi) away from residential areas. Little came out of this proposal the next 60 years or so. In 1943, the town council set up the Laugardalsnefnd committee. Its task was to make proposals and ideas for the area. The committee then delivered the result later, which included building a new football stadium and a new swimming pool. Construction of the field started in 1949 and lasted until 1952. Kaplakrikavöllur
Kaplakriki is a multi-purpose stadium in Hafnarfjörður, Iceland. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of Fimleikafélag Hafnarfjarðar. The stadium holds over 6,000 spectators and has offers 3050 seats. The plan for the stadium development is to expand the seating capacity to over 4,000 seats taking the maximum capacity to over 7,000. Long-term plans though are to make the stadium an all-seater, full square stadium with around 6,000 seats and roofs over the stands. Hafnarfjörður
Hafnarfjörður (), officially Hafnarfjarðarkaupstaður (), is a port town and municipality in Iceland, located about south of Reykjavík. The municipality consists of two non-contiguous areas in the Capital Region, on the southwest coast of the country. At about 30,000 inhabitants, Hafnarfjörður is the third-most populous city in Iceland after Reykjavík and Kópavogur. It has established local industry and a variety of urban activities, with annual festival events. Kópavogsvöllur () is a multi-use stadium in Kópavogur, Iceland. It is currently used mostly for football (soccer), football matches and is the home stadium of Breiðablik UBK, Breiðablik. It is also used for track and field events. The stadium holds 3,009 spectators and has 1,709 seats in two stands. The stadium was opened on 7 June 1975, when home team Breiðablik hosted Víkingur Ólafsvík in the old 2nd division. On 9 May 2008, a new stand was opened by Þorgerður Katrín Gunnarsdóttir, Iceland's Minister of Education, Science and Culture (Iceland), Minister of Education, Science and Culture. Kópavogur () is a town in Iceland that is the country's second largest municipality by population. It lies immediately south of Reykjavík and is part of the Capital Region.
