Kópavogur
Kópavogur () is a town in Iceland that is the country's second largest municipality by population. It lies immediately south of Reykjavík and is part of the Capital Region. The name literally means ''seal pup inlet''. The town seal contains the profile of the church Kópavogskirkja with a seal pup underneath. Kópavogur is largely made up of residential areas, but has commercial areas and much industrial activity as well. The tallest building in Iceland, the Smáratorg Tower, is located in central Kópavogur. History Kópavogur is historically significant as the site of the 1662 Kópavogur meeting. Smáratorg Tower
Smáratorg 3 () is an office and retail building in Iceland. It is the tallest building in Iceland, surpassing Hallgrímskirkja in height, and is the fifth tallest architectural structure in the country after the Eiðar longwave transmitter, the masts of Naval Radio Transmitter Facility Grindavik and longwave radio mast Hellissandur. The building is located in Smárahverfi, Kópavogur, where the shopping mall Smáralind is also located. The building has 20 floors and is tall. The main constructor for the building was Jáverk. The tower was designed by Arkís architects. The global accounting and consulting firm Deloitte is located in the tower. The building opened on 11 February 2008. Sverrir Ingi Ingason (born 5 August 1993) is an Icelandic professional footballer who plays as a defender for Greek Super League club PAOK and the Iceland national team. Sverrir previously played for Icelandic club Breiðablik UBK before transferring to Viking FK. After a successful spell at the Norwegian club he moved to Lokeren of Belgium. An Icelandic youth international, he participated at the UEFA Euro 2016 and the 2018 World Cup with the senior team. Kópavogskirkja () is a church in Kópavogur, Iceland. It is located on Borgarholt hill at the top of Kársnes and offers a great view over Kópavogur, Reykjavík and surrounding area. Handknattleiksfélag Kópavogs (HK) or HK Iceland is an Icelandic sports club from the town of Kópavogur, mainly known for its football and handball teams.
