2014 World Pool Masters
The 2014 World Pool Masters, also known as World Pool Masters XXII, was a nine-ball pool tournament that took place in Nottingham, England, between 14–16 November 2014. It was the 22nd edition of the invitational tournament organised by Matchroom Sport. Shane Van Boening won the event, defeating Nikos Ekonomopoulos in the final 8–2. Defending champion Niels Feijen lost his first round match to Italian Daniele Corrieri. World Pool Masters
The World Pool Masters is an annual international nine-ball tournament. Formerly, it was called the European Pool Masters (until 1995) until players from other parts of the globe were invited. History Throughout much of its history, the tournament has been featuring sixteen world-class pool players, competing in single-elimination format. In 2010, the number of players was doubled to 32. The first round of the event was played in double elimination with the second round in single-elimination. In 2011, the tournament reverted to the original 16-player single-elimination format, with each match a race-to-8, winner breaks. The 2011 edition was held in SM North EDSA Mall in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines. Ralf Souquet of Germany won the said tournament for the record-setting sixth time, beating defending champion Dennis Orcollo of the Philippines, 8–5. Mark Gray (born 16 August 1973) is an English professional Pool (cue sports), pool player and former professional snooker player. Snooker career Born in 1973, Gray turned professional in 1992. He made little progress in any tournament until the 1997/1998 season, when he reached the last 64 at the German Open - losing 1–5 to Karl Broughton - the last 48 at the Thailand Masters, where Chris Small whitewashed him 5–0, and later made his first appearance in the last 32 at a ranking event, in the 1998 British Open. There, he defeated Jimmy Michie 5–3 and Jimmy White 5–4, but lost 3–5 to Dominic Dale. Mika Immonen
Mika Immonen (born 17 December 1972) is a Finnish professional Hall of Fame pool player, nicknamed "The Iceman." Career Immonen won the 2001 WPA World Nine-ball Championship in Cardiff, Wales. Karl Boyes (pool Player)
Karl Boyes (born 4 November 1982) is an English professional pool player. He won the 2010 world 8-ball championships. In the final, Boyes had the much better start and led Niels Feijen 4-0 and 11–5, before his opponent started a catch-up and levelled at 12-12. Boyes won the final rack, winning 13–12. Boyes has been a part of four Mosconi Cup teams, competing for Europe in 2010, 2013, 2014 and 2015. In all of these seasons, Europe would defeat the USA. Personal life Boyes was born in Bradford, West Yorkshire. He began playing pool, mainly English 8-ball, as a teenager in pubs in Manchester. In November 2020, Boyes started a self-named YouTube channel. On the channel, he uploads pool tutorial videos as well as lessons and tips.
