2014 WTA Tour
The 2014 WTA Tour was the elite professional tennis circuit organized by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) for the 2014 tennis season. The 2014 WTA Tour calendar comprises the Grand Slam tournaments (supervised by the International Tennis Federation (ITF)), the WTA Premier tournaments (Premier Mandatory, Premier 5, and regular Premier), the WTA International tournaments, the Fed Cup (organized by the ITF), and the year-end championships (the WTA Tour Championships and the WTA Tournament of Champions). The Grand Slam in tennis is the achievement of winning all four major championships in one discipline in a calendar year, also referred to as the "Calendar-year Grand Slam" or "Calendar Slam". In doubles, a team may accomplish the Grand Slam playing together or a player may achieve it with different partners. Winning all four major championships consecutively but not within the same calendar year is referred to as a "non-calendar-year Grand Slam", while winning the four majors at any point during the course of a career is known as a "Career Grand Slam". Petra Kvitová, OLY ( , ; born 8 March 1990) is a Czech professional tennis player. Known for her powerful left-handed groundstrokes and variety, Kvitová has won 29 career singles titles, including two major titles at Wimbledon in 2011 and in 2014. She also won a bronze medal in singles while representing the Czech Republic at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Her career-high ranking of world No. 2 was achieved on 31 October 2011. The 2014 Brisbane International was a joint 2014 ATP World Tour and 2014 WTA Tour tennis tournament, played on outdoor hard courts in Brisbane, Queensland. It was the sixth edition of the tournament and took place at the Queensland Tennis Centre in Tennyson. It was held from 29 December 2013 to 5 January 2014 and was part of the Australian Open Series in preparation for the first Grand Slam of the year. In a major coup for the tournament, it was announced on 24 July 2013 that former world no. 1 and 17-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer had committed to the event for the first time, thus breaking from his tradition of beginning the season in the Middle East. The Hopman Cup XXVI (also known as the Hyundai Hopman Cup for sponsorship reasons) corresponded to the 26th edition of the Hopman Cup tournament between nations in men's and women's tennis. The tournament commenced on 28 December 2013 at the Perth Arena in Perth, Western Australia. Eight teams competed for the title, with two round robin groups of four, from which the top team of each group progress to the final. Spain were the 2013 champions. Hopman Cup
The Hopman Cup is an international eight-team indoor hardcourt tennis tournament that played mixed-gender teams on a country-by-country basis.It was held in Perth, Western Australia each year from 1989 to 2019, before being replaced on the calendar in 2020 by the now defunct ATP Cup. It is set to return in July 2023 in Nice, France. The Billie Jean King Cup (or the BJK Cup) is the premier international team competition in women's tennis, launched as the Federation Cup in 1963 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the International Tennis Federation (ITF).
