2014 Uzbek League
The 2014 Uzbek League was the 23rd season of top level football in Uzbekistan since independence in 1992. Bunyodkor were the defending champions from the 2013 campaign. Teams FK Guliston and Shurtan Guzar were relegated in the last edition of the Uzbek League to First League. Uzbek League
Uzbekistan Super League ( uz, O'zbekiston Superligasi), also called Coca-Cola Uzbekistan Super League due to sponsorship reasons ( uz, Coca-Cola O'zbekiston Superligasi / Coca-Cola Ўзбекистон Суперлигаси), is the top division of professional football in Uzbekistan. It is operated under the auspices of the Uzbekistan Professional Football League and Uzbekistan Football Association. It was founded in 1992 and currently played with 14 teams. The top team qualifies to the group stage of the AFC Champions League. Edgar Yakovlevich Gess (russian: Эдгар Яковлевич Гесс; german: Edgar Hess; born 14 March 1954) is a Tajikistani-German football coach and a former Soviet player. He is the current head coach of the FK Andijan football club. International career Gess played his only game for the USSR on 5 September 1979 in a friendly game against East Germany. In 2009–2011 he was head coach of Shurtan Guzar. During this time ''Shurtan Guzar'' finished 4th in the 2010 season and the team reached the Uzbek Cup final, losing 0–1 to Bunyodkor. On 30 June 2011 he was sacked as a result of the previous losses and Tachmurad Agamuradov was named as the new coach of ''Shurtan''. FC Shurtan Guzar
FC Shurtan Guzar ( uz, Sho'rtan G'uzor professional futbol klubi or Шўртан Ғузор футбол клуби) is an Uzbek football club based in G‘uzor, Uzbekistan. History During its first years the club played in the lower divisions of Uzbekistan. In 2006 FC Shurtan made its debut in the Uzbek League. The 2010 season was the club's most successful season when they finished 4th in the league and were runners-up in the Uzbek Cup. In the quarter-final of the Uzbek Cup they beat Pakhtakor on aggregate and Lokomotiv Tashkent in the semi-final. Shurtan lost in the Final match, played in Tashkent, to Bunyodkor. FK Guliston
FK Guliston ( uz, Гулистон футбол клуби) ( tg, Dastai futboli Guliston, fa, گلستان) is an Uzbekistani football club based in Guliston, Sirdaryo Region. History FK Guliston played 4 seasons in the Uzbek League: 1993, 1994, 2000, 2003. In 1992 the club won the First Division and were promoted to the Uzbek League. The club played until 1994 under the name of ''Shifokor Guliston''. In 2001 FK Guliston and FK Yangiyer merged into ''FK Sirdaryo'' representing the Sirdaryo region. Since 2009 the club has played under the name of FK Guliston again with FK Yangiyer representing a separate team as well. At the end of season 2011 FK Guliston were promoted to top league.
