Cairns
Cairns (, ) is a city in Queensland, Australia, on the tropical north east coast of Far North Queensland. The population in June 2019 was 153,952, having grown on average 1.02% annually over the preceding five years. The city is the 5th-most-populous in Queensland, and 15th in Australia. The city was founded in 1876 and named after Sir William Wellington Cairns, following the discovery of gold in the Hodgkinson river. Throughout the late 19th century, Cairns prospered from the settlement of Chinese immigrants who helped develop the region's agriculture. Daniel McConnell (born 9 August 1985) is an Australian cross-country mountain biker. McConnell qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He finished 30th in the men's cross-country event. Early years McConnell began cycling at 13 years of age. His hard work and dedication to the sport paid off and was chosen for the Australian Team in 2002. At the age of 23 McConnell made his Olympic debut at the 2008 Beijing Games. He was placed 39th in the mountain bike cross-country event. Achievements At the 2012 Summer Olympics, McConnell competed in the Men's cross-country at Hadleigh Farm, finishing in 21st place. Mont-Sainte-Anne
Mont-Sainte-Anne is a ski resort in eastern Canada, located in the town of Beaupré, Quebec, about northeast of Quebec City. The mountain is part of the Laurentian mountain chain and has a summit elevation of above sea level with a vertical drop of . For day skiing, there are 71 available downhill ski trails covering the southern, northern and western sides of the mountain. For night skiing, there are 19 trails covering the southern part of the mountain only. It is the highest vertical for night skiing in Canada. The average natural snowfall at the summit is . Catharine Pendrel
Catharine Pendrel (born September 30, 1980) is a Canadian cross-country mountain biker from Harvey Station, New Brunswick. A member of the Canadian National team since 2004, Pendrel was the world champion in cross-country mountain biking in 2011 and 2014 and the 2007 Pan American Games champion. She is also the current reigning Commonwealth Games champion when she won gold in Glasgow. Additionally, Pendrel is the 2010 World Cup Champion as well as the winner of the 2012 UCI and 2016 World Cup Series. She won a bronze medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Career Pendrel was a competitive horse rider in eventing prior to selecting mountain biking as her primary sport. Her brother Geoff Pendrel is an elite downhill mountain bike racer. Stéphane Tempier (born 5 March 1986) is a French cross-country mountain biker who races for the Trek Factory Racing. He won the silver medal in the junior cross country at the 2004 world championships in Les Gets, France. At the 2005 world championships he won the bronze medal in the cross country team relay, riding the men's under-23 leg for the French team. Tempier represented France in the mountain bike cross country at the 2012 Summer Olympics and finished in 11th place, 2:23 behind the winner. Nove is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Vicenza in the region of Veneto, north-eastern Italy, with just over 5,000 inhabitants. It is located on the Brenta river, near Marostica and Bassano del Grappa. The town is home of a local network of ceramic industries.
