2014 Scottish Rally Championship
The Scottish Rally Championship was a rallying series run throughout Scotland over the course of a year, that comprised seven gravel rallies and one tarmac event. Points were awarded to the top placed drivers and the driver scoring the highest number of points over the season was declared Champion of the series. For the second season in a row the championship was sponsored by ARR Craib Transport Ltd, an Aberdeen based road haulage and logistics company. This was a one-year deal announced in December 2013. The 2014 season began in the snow-covered forest tracks around Inverness on 22 February, with the season finale taking place around Castle Douglas on 26 October. David Bogie began the year as defending champion after winning four out of the eight events in 2013. Following the Colin McRae Forest Stages Rally in October, Euan Thorburn and Paul Beaton were declared 2014 Scottish rally champions. Dumfries
Dumfries ( ; sco, Dumfries; from gd, Dùn Phris ) is a market town and former royal burgh within the Dumfries and Galloway council area of Scotland. John "Jock" Armstrong (born 23 January 1970) is a British rally driver from Castle Douglas. He was Scottish Rally Champion in 2015 and 2016. Career His first rally was in 1989 driving a Vauxhall Nova. In 1993 he won the UK Colway Tyres budget championship in a 1300cc Vauxhall Nova, ahead of drivers with more powerful cars. In October 2015, Armstrong and regular co-driver Paula Swinscoe were crowned the 2015 Scottish Rally champions. During the Jim Clark Reivers rally in May, Armstrong and Swinscoe were given a 1-minute time penalty dropping them from first to third place, however following an appeal in late September this was overturned and the pair were granted the win. The Ford Focus RS WRC is a car built for the Ford World Rally Team by Ford Europe and M-Sport and based on the Ford Focus Climate 2-litre production hatchback, developed to compete in the World Rally Championship. The RS stands for ''Rallye Sport'' and the WRC for ''World Rally Car'', the car's FIA specification. The Focus RS WRC was in competition from 1999 to 2010, winning 44 world rallies and two manufacturers' world titles (2006 and 2007). It was replaced by the Ford Fiesta RS WRC. Castle Douglas ( gd, Caisteal Dhùghlais) is a town in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. It lies in the lieutenancy area of Kirkcudbrightshire, in the eastern part of Galloway, between the towns of Dalbeattie and Gatehouse of Fleet. It is in the ecclesiastical parish of Kelton. Aberfeldy ( gd, Obar Pheallaidh) is a burgh in Perth and Kinross, Scotland, on the River Tay. A small market town, Aberfeldy is located in Highland Perthshire. Colin McRae
Colin Steele McRae, (5 August 1968 – 15 September 2007) was a Scottish rally driver. He was the 1991 and 1992 British Rally Champion, and in 1995 became the first British driver and the youngest person to win the World Rally Championship Drivers' title, a record which stood for 27 years until Kalle Rovanperä took the 2022 season title just a day after his 22nd birthday. McRae's performances with the Subaru World Rally Team enabled the team to win the World Rally Championship Manufacturers' title three times in succession in 1995, 1996 and 1997.
