2014 Scottish Open Grand Prix
The 2014 Scottish Open was the seventeenth grand prix badminton tournament of the 2014 BWF Grand Prix Gold and Grand Prix. The tournament was held in Emirates Arena, Glasgow, Scotland from 19 until 23 November 2014 and had a total purse of $50,000. This tournament supported by the Glasgow City Council, Event Scotland, and Yonex. Emirates Arena
The Commonwealth Arena and Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, known for sponsorship reasons as the Emirates Arena, is an indoor arena and velodrome in Dalmarnock, Glasgow, Scotland. Built for the 2014 Commonwealth Games, these venues hosted the badminton and track cycling events. Situated opposite Celtic Park in the East End of Glasgow, the complex is the headquarters of Sportscotland and Scottish Cycling. History It was built on a site at a cost of £113 million. The construction work took place between 2009 and 2012. The venue opened in October 2012. In September 2017, neighbours Celtic F.C. had plans approved for the construction of a hotel complex within their land, situated directly across the road from the arena and velodrome. Eric Pang
Eric Pang (born 30 January 1982) is a Dutch badminton player, who became European Junior Champion in 2001. He won the National Dutch Championships seven times between 2009 and 2015. Career As a part of the BC Amersfoort team Pang reached the final of the European Cup 2007 held in Amersfoort. Together with Lotte Bruil-Jonathans, Yao Jie, Larisa Griga, Dicky Palyama and Chris Bruil. The final was lost against the team of NL Primorje. In the semi finals they were too strong for CB Rinconada. Eric Pang won the Norwegian International in 2005 and the Spanish Open in 2010. In 2012 Eric Pang won the Yonex Dutch Open Grand Prix beating his compatriot Dicky Palyama in the final with straight games. Raul Must
Raul Must (born November 9, 1987) is a badminton player from Estonia. He is a four time Olympian representing Estonia at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, 2012 London Olympics, 2016 Rio Olympics and also at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. Must was a men's singles bronze medalist at the 2019 Minsk European Games. Career Must played the 2007 BWF World Championships in men's singles, and was defeated in the first round by Björn Joppien, of Germany, 21–12, 21–11. Thomas Rouxel
Thomas Rouxel (born 26 May 1991) is a French badminton player affiliated with Chambly Oise club. In 2016, he won the silver medal at the European Men's Team Championships in Kazan, Russia. Career Rouxel helped the team to win silver in the European Men's Team Championships. He also help the team to achieve bronze two years later in the men's team event. Petr Koukal (badminton)
Petr Koukal (; born 14 December 1985) is a Czech professional badminton player. Biography Koukal started playing badminton in 1993, at a club owned by his father in Hořovice, and made his debut in the international tournament in 2000. In 2003 he was selected to join the national team, and at the same year, he won the mixed doubles title at the national championships partnered with Markéta Koudelková. Until 2016, he has collected 9 national titles, where 8 of them won in the men's singles event. Koukal first competed at the Summer Olympics in Beijing. In 2010, Koukal was diagnosed with testicular cancer and underwent a successful therapy. He was awarded 2011 Fair Play Award, in Brno, Czech Republic. Joachim Persson
Joachim Persson (born 23 May 1983) is a badminton player from Denmark. Career Persson was born in Denmark but his family moved to Germany in his early years. He began to playing badminton in Trittau, Germany together with his parents. As German player, he helped the German team to win the mixed team title at the 2001 European Junior Championships, also won a silver medal in the singles event.
