2014 Saskatchewan Roughriders Season
The 2014 Saskatchewan Roughriders season was the 57th season for the team in the Canadian Football League. The Roughriders qualified for the playoffs for a third straight season, but failed to defend their Grey Cup title as they lost the West Semi-Final to the Edmonton Eskimos. For the second consecutive season, the club held training camp at Griffiths Stadium in Saskatoon with the main camp beginning on June 1. Offseason Transactions During the offseason, the Roughriders lost many key players from the 2013 season, including Weston Dressler, Kory Sheets, Craig Butler and Ricky Schmitt. The Roughriders lost quarterbacks coach Khari Jones to the BC Lions, who went there to become the Lions' offensive coordinator. During the 2013 CFL Expansion Draft, they lost Keith Shologan, Zack Evans and James Lee to the Ottawa Redblacks. Canadian Football League West Division
The West Division is one of the two regional divisions of the Canadian Football League (CFL), its counterpart being the East Division (CFL), East Division. Although the CFL was not founded until 1958, the West Division and its clubs are descended from earlier leagues. The five teams in the West Division are the BC Lions, Calgary Stampeders, Edmonton Elks, Saskatchewan Roughriders, and Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Ricky Schmitt
Ricky William Schmitt (born August 17, 1985) is a former gridiron football punter and place kicker. He was signed by the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent in 2007. He played college football at Shepherd University. Schmitt was also a member of the San Diego Chargers, Pittsburgh Steelers, Oakland Raiders, San Francisco 49ers, Tennessee Titans, Saskatchewan Roughriders, and BC Lions. Early years Schmitt graduated from Salem High School in Virginia Beach, Virginia in 2003, but did not play football until his senior year. A four-year varsity letterman in soccer, Schmitt only went out for football due to the Sun Devils' need for a kicker. He was named an all-Beach District punter/kicker his senior year. Winnipeg Blue Bombers
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are a professional Canadian football team based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The Blue Bombers compete in the Canadian Football League (CFL) as a member club of the league's West division. They play their home games at IG Field. The Blue Bombers were founded in 1930 as the Winnipeg Rugby Football Club, later changed to the Winnipeg Football Club, which is the organization's legal name. Macho Harris
Victor "Macho" Harris, Jr. (born February 16, 1986) is a former Canadian football defensive back. He recently played for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played college football at Virginia Tech and was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the fifth round of the 2009 NFL Draft. Harris went on to play for the Washington Redskins and the Pittsburgh Steelers before signing with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on April 18, 2012. Paul Woldu
Paul Woldu (born September 14, 1984) is a former professional Canadian football cornerback. He was drafted by the Montreal Alouettes in the fifth round of the 2008 CFL Draft where he spent four years with the team. He played CIS football for the Saskatchewan Huskies football team. Early years Woldu was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, and attended Dr. Martin LeBoldus High School. Christopher Milo
Christopher Milo (born November 2, 1986) is a former professional Canadian football placekicker. He was drafted 30th overall by the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the 2011 CFL Draft and signed with the team on June 1, 2011. He played CIS football for the Laval Rouge et Or. During his college career, Milo won the Vanier Cup twice and he has helped the Roughriders and Ottawa Redblacks both win a Grey Cup in the CFL. The Ottawa Redblacks (officially stylized as REDBLACKS) ( French: Le Rouge et Noir d'Ottawa) are a professional Canadian football team based in Ottawa, Ontario. Zack Evans (born June 27, 1990) is a Canadian football defensive lineman who is a free agent. He is a two-time Grey Cup champion having won the 101st Grey Cup as a member of the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the 104th Grey Cup with the Ottawa Redblacks. Keith Shologan (born November 26, 1985) is a Canadian football defensive tackle for the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played college football at UCF. Shologan has also been a member of the San Diego Chargers, Saskatchewan Roughriders, Ottawa Redblacks and Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
