2014 British Rowing Senior Championships
The 2014 British Rowing Senior Championships were the 43rd edition of the National Senior Championships, held from 18–19 October 2014 at the National Water Sports Centre in Holme Pierrepont, Nottingham. They were organised and sanctioned by British Rowing British Rowing, formerly the Amateur Rowing Association (ARA), is the national governing body for the sport of rowing (both indoor and on-water rowing). Bad weather in the forms of gusts of wind resulted in the medals (for the quadruple sculls and coxed eights) being awarded based on the crews positions during qualifying races. Holme Pierrepont National Watersports Centre
Holme Pierrepont Country Park, home of The National Water Sports Centre is located in the hamlet of Holme Pierrepont near Nottingham, England and on the River Trent. It is used for many different types of sports and has recently received significant investment which has enabled a major refurbishment of existing facilities as well as introduction of new facilities. Run by Serco on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council, it was previously one of five National Sports Centres, and is a unique sporting venue set in the centre of the country. History The centre was constructed during 1970 and 1971 on a former gravel works and required the excavation of one and a half million Cubic yard, cubic yards of material. Andrew Triggs Hodge
Andrew Triggs Hodge (born 3 March 1979) is a British former rower - a three time Olympic champion and four time world champion. In the British coxless four in 2012 he set a world's best time which still stood as of 2021. Education Born in Halton, Buckinghamshire, he moved to Hebden near Grassington in 1980. He went to Burnsall Primary School in Burnsall then Upper Wharfedale School, a secondary modern school in Threshfield. He then completed sixth form at South Craven School, a secondary school near Skipton. Before studying Environmental Science at the Stoke campus of Staffordshire University where he took up the sport of rowing with the Boat Club on Rudyard Lake and St Catherine's College, Oxford where he undertook an MSc in Water Science, Policy and Management. Pete Reed
Peter K. Reed OBE (born 27 July 1981) is a retired British Olympic rower. Reed is a three-times Olympic gold medallist – earning gold in the Men's coxless four at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics, and then a gold medal in the Men's eight at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. He has won five gold medals and three silver medals at the World Championships. Background and military career Reed was born in Seattle, Washington, US but his family moved to England several months later. He was brought up in Nailsworth, Gloucestershire and attended Cirencester Deer Park School, and later Cirencester College for his A-levels. Reed is a Lieutenant Commander in the Royal Navy and began rowing relatively late. Stewart Innes
Stewart Innes (born 20 May 1991) is a retired British rower. Career Innes took up rowing as a pupil at St Edward's School, Oxford and later competed for Durham University as an undergraduate, and for Reading University as a postgraduate. He was part of the British team that topped the medal table at the 2015 World Rowing Championships at Lac d'Aiguebelette in France, where he won a bronze medal as part of the coxless four with Scott Durant, Alan Sinclair and Tom Ransley. He competed in the men's coxless pair event, with Alan Sinclair, at the 2016 Summer Olympics. After finishing 3rd at the 2019 GB Rowing Team Trials, Innes had been set to compete at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo but following the postponement of the games, he announced his retirement from international rowing in October 2020. Sam Townsend
Sam Townsend (born 26 November 1985 in Reading) is a British rower who competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics and 2016 Summer Olympics. Rowing career Townsend competed in the double sculls with Bill Lucas at the 2012 Olympic Games rowing events, finishing in fifth place. He competed at the 2013 World Rowing Championships in Chungju, where he won a bronze medal as part of the quad sculls with Graeme Thomas, Charles Cousins and Peter Lambert. Zak Lee-Green (born 5 February 1991) is a retired Welsh and British rower. Reading University Boat Club
Reading University Boat Club (RUBC, boat code RDU) is the rowing club for the University of Reading in the United Kingdom. It is based at a boat house in Christchurch Meadows on the River Thames in the Reading suburb of Caversham. The club has a focus on sculling. Agecroft Rowing Club is a rowing club based at Salford Quays, Greater Manchester, England. It was formerly based close to the Agecroft Hall in Pendleton north. Its current location is its third within today's City of Salford on a site close to the city centre of Manchester. History There has been rowing in Manchester and Salford since 1823, with more than 15 clubs operating during the 1860s. Agecroft R.C. was formed by the gradual merging of these River Irwell-based clubs. Agecroft R.C. was established in Oct 1861 by Ishmael Lythgoe with its first boat house in the grounds of Agecroft Hall at Pendlebury before the manor house was sold and rebuilt by the James River in Virginia, USA. Matthew Rossiter
Matthew Rossiter (born 25 September 1989) is a British international rower. He is an Olympian and has won medals at World Rowing Championships. Profile Rossiter was educated at Abingdon School and gained colours for the Abingdon School Boat Club. In 2008 he finished fifth in the Under-23 eights at the Junior World Championships. He continued his rowing as a student at Durham University. His younger brother George Rossiter is a World Under 23 Championship medallist and World University Champion. Matt Langridge
Matthew Langridge (born 20 May 1983) is a British rower. At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London he was part of the British crew that won the bronze medal in the men's eight. He was the 2015 European Champion in the men's pair, along with James Foad. At the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro he was part of the British crew that won the gold medal in the men's eight. William Spencer Satch (born 9 June 1989) is a British Rowing (sport), rower and Olympic gold medallist. Rowing career Satch was educated at Shiplake College near Henley-on-Thames in southeast Oxfordshire. His rowing coach was New Zealand gold medallist Shane O'Brien (rower), Shane O'Brien, who was deputy headmaster at Shiplake College.
