2014 Bluegrass Warhorses Season
The 2014 Bluegrass Warhorses season is the first season for the Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL) franchise. The franchise was first announced in May 2013. Owner Eric Taylor announced that the Warhorses would be playing at the Alltech Arena on the grounds of the Kentucky Horse Park. In July, it was announced the Warhorses would be a member of the Continental Indoor Football League. Harry Lewis was introduced in August as the team's first head coach. In March 2014, the team's financial troubles forced the cancellation of its last four home dates, and moved the league to try to arrange sufficient road dates to allow the team to complete the season. Kentucky Horse Park
Kentucky Horse Park is a working horse farm, international equestrian competition venue, and an educational theme park opened in 1978 in Lexington, Kentucky. It is located off Kentucky State Highway 1973 (Iron Works Pike) and Interstate 75, at Exit 120, in northern Fayette County, Kentucky, Fayette County in the United States. The equestrianism, equestrian facility is a park dedicated to "man's relationship with the horse." Open to the public, the park has a twice daily Horses of the World Show, showcasing both common and rare horses from around the globe. The horses are ridden in authentic costume. Each year the park is host to a number of special events and horse shows. 2014 Erie Explosion Season
The 2014 Erie Explosion season is the eighth season for the Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL) franchise. In June 2013, the Explosion agreed to terms with the CIFL to return for the 2014 season. The Explosion earned an 8–2 record during the 2014 regular season and won their second consecutive CIFL championship. It would be the league's last championship; the CIFL dissolved after the 2014 season. The Explosion will continue. Hara Arena
Hara Arena was a 5,500-seat multi-purpose arena located in the Trotwood, Ohio suburb of Dayton. The facility began as a ballroom in 1956, added an arena in 1964 and grew to a six-building complex which closed in August 2016. 2014 Detroit Thunder Season
The 2014 Detroit Thunder season is the second season for the Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL) franchise. In June 2013, the Thunder agreed to terms with the CIFL to return for the 2014 season. The team was originally supposed to play the season at Fraser Hockeyland but was unable to secure turf for the arena, forcing the team to move to the Perani Arena and Event Center in Flint, Michigan for the only home game the Thunder would play that season. 2014 Saginaw Sting Season
The 2014 Saginaw Sting season was the sixth season for the Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL) franchise. In June 2013, the Sting agreed to terms with the CIFL to return for the 2014 season. The Sting won their first eighth game of the season to advance to 8-0, but during that game the Sting lost quarterback A. J. McKenna to injury. The following week the team lost 2013 league MVP, C. J. Tarver to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League (CFL). The loss of those two key players became noticeable when the Sting lost their final regular season game to finish 9-1. The Veterans Memorial Coliseum is a 3,500-seat multi-purpose arena, in Marion, Ohio. It was built in 1949. It was home to the Marion Blue Racers indoor football team of X-League Indoor Football. The arena was formerly home to the Marion Barons, a minor league professional ice hockey team during the 1953-54 International Hockey League season. 2014 Marion Blue Racers Season
The 2014 Marion Blue Racers season was the fourth season for the Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL) franchise. In May 2013, the Blue Racers announced that they were leaving the CIFL again, this time to join the Xtreme Indoor Football League. The league was supposed to be run by Blue Racers owner LaMonte Coleman. However, in August 2013, the Blue Racers re-signed with the CIFL to a multi-year contract. Coleman has hired Marc Huddleston as the 2014 Head Coach and Director of Football Operations. After a 5–1 start, the Blue Racers announced that Coleman would be taking over as the team's head coach. The Blue Racers recovered from a down season in 2013, by winning the CIFL's new South Division title, clinching them home-field advantage in the South Division playoffs. Erie Insurance Arena (originally known as Erie Civic Center and later, Louis J. Tullio Arena) is a multi-purpose indoor arena in the downtown area of Erie, Pennsylvania. Freedom Hall is a multi-purpose arena in Louisville, Kentucky, on the grounds of the Kentucky Exposition Center, which is owned by the Commonwealth of Kentucky. 2014 CIFL Season
The 2014 Continental Indoor Football League season was the Continental Indoor Football League's ninth overall season. The regular season started on Monday February 3, with the Northern Kentucky River Monsters visiting the Bluegrass Warhorses at the Alltech Arena, and ended with the 2014 CIFL Championship Game, the league's championship game held on May 18. The Erie Explosion successfully defended their championship from the previous year with a win over the Marion Blue Racers in the championship. Teams The Kane County Dawgs, Kentucky Drillers and Owensboro Rage folded either during or after the 2013 season. The addition of the Bluegrass Warhorses, Chicago Slaughter, Kentucky Xtreme and the Northern Kentucky River Monsters prompted the league to make North and South Divisions for the 2014 season. 2014 Kentucky Xtreme Season
The Louisville Xtreme are an indoor football team based in Louisville, Kentucky, with home games at the KFC Yum! Center. They began play as the Kentucky Xtreme in the Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL) in 2013 and 2014. Midway through the 2014 CIFL season, the league removed the team's membership and the Xtreme temporarily suspended operations. After playing the 2015 season in the semi-professional Minor League Football Alliance (MLFA), the team rebranded as the Louisville Xtreme in 2017. In 2020, the Xtreme were added to the American Arena League (AAL) but cancelled its season citing the COVID-19 pandemic. For the 2021 season, the Xtreme were announced to be joining the National Arena League, but instead joined the Indoor Football League three months later. Bye (sports)
In sport, a bye is the preferential status of a player or team that is automatically advanced to the next round of a tournament, without having to play an opponent in an early round. In knockout (elimination) tournaments they can be granted either to reward the highest ranked participant(s) or assigned randomly, to make a working bracket if the number of participants is not a power of two (e.g. 16 or 32). In round-robin tournaments, usually one competitor gets a bye in each round when there are an odd number of competitors, as it is impossible for all competitors to play in the same round. However, over the whole tournament, each plays the same number of games as well as sitting out for the same number of rounds.
