Sylvan Lake, Alberta
Sylvan Lake is a town in central Alberta, Canada. It is located approximately west of the City of Red Deer along Highway 11 or Highway 11A. It is on the southeast edge of Sylvan Lake, a freshwater lake that straddles the boundary between Red Deer County and Lacombe County. The lake is a popular destination for tourists from around Alberta, with around 1 million visitors each year. Beth Iskiw
Beth Iskiw (born April 20, 1979 in Truro, Nova Scotia as Beth Roach) is a Canadian curler from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. As a junior, Iskiw won four straight provincial junior titles in her native Nova Scotia from 1996 to 1999, playing third for Meredith Doyle. The rink also won the Canadian Junior Curling Championships in 1997, and would win a bronze medal at the 1997 World Junior Curling Championships. In 2000, she was invited as the alternate player for the Canadian Junior team skipped by Stefanie Miller. The team won the silver medal at the World Juniors After her junior career, Iskiw stuck with Doyle, and won two provincial women's championships, in 2002 and 2004. A spruce is a tree of the genus ''Picea'' (), a genus of about 35 species of coniferous evergreen trees in the family Pinaceae, found in the northern temperate and boreal (taiga) regions of the Earth. ''Picea'' is the sole genus in the subfamily Piceoideae. Spruces are large trees, from about 20 to 60 m (about 60–200 ft) tall when mature, and have whorled branches and conical form. Jessica "Jessie" Hunkin (born August 24, 1988, née Kaufman) is a Canadian curler from Parkland County, Alberta. She currently skips her own team out of Spruce Grove. Career Until joining the Robyn Silvernagle rink in 2018, Hunkin skipped or threw last stones one of the top teams in Alberta. Since forming her rink in 2008, she has won four WCT events: the 2010 Meyers Norris Penny Charity Classic, the 2011 Boundary Ford Curling Classic, the 2012 Iron Trail Motors Shoot-Out and the 2013 Avonair Cash Spiel. Cary-Anne McTaggart (born June 4, 1986 in Grande Prairie, Alberta as Cary-Anne Sallows) is a Canadian curler from Milk River, Alberta. She currently plays third for Team Ashley Howard. Career Juniors McTaggart won three provincial junior titles playing third for the Desirée Robertson rink in 2003 and 2005 and for Kalynn Park in 2007. Their provincial titles qualified the rink to represent Alberta in each of those years' Canadian Junior Curling Championships. At the 2003 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, the team finished the round robin with a 9-3 record and would lose in the semifinal, placing third overall. At the 2005 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, the team went undefeated in the round robin, but would end up losing in the final to New Brunswick's Andrea Kelly rink.
