2013–14 Gabala FC Season
The 2013–14 season was Gabala's ninth season as a club and their eighth season in the Azerbaijan Premier League, the top flight of Azerbaijani football. They finished the season in their highest ever position, third, and earned qualification to the UEFA Europa League for the first time in the club's history. They also participated in the Azerbaijan Cup, reaching the final for the first time, where they lost to Neftchi Baku on penalties. It was their first, and only, season with manager Yuri Semin, who mutually terminated his contract at the end of the season. Danijel Subotić was the team's top goalscorer for the season with 13, 12 of which came in the Premier League. Gabala Football Club ( az, Qəbələ Futbol Klubu ), also spelled Qabala, is an Azerbaijani association football club representing Qabala in the Azerbaijan Premier League since 2006. Gabala has been the runner up in the Premier League three times and has won the national cup once, in 2019. Gabala is one of the 2 teams that started the first qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League for 2 seasons and managed to move on to the group stage. History The club was founded under the name of ''Goy Gol'' on 3 July 1995, based in Goy Gol. On 1 September 2005, Goy Gol was registered in Gabala by the Ministry of Justice, before the AFFA registered the team as professional on 5 September of the same year. Dmitriy Sergeyevich Kramarenko (born 12 September 1974) is an Azerbaijani football coach and a former goalkeeper. He is a goalkeepers coach at CSKA Moscow. International career He made his debut for Azerbaijan national football team in 1992 at the age of 18, but then was not called up to the squad for an extended period. Rashad Abdullayev ( az, Rəşad Abdullayev; born 1 October 1981) is a retired Azerbaijani footballer who played as a midfielder. Career Gabala In May 2012, Abdullayev signed a one-year contract with Gabala. Abdullayev made his debut for Gabala on 4 August 2012 in a 1–1 draw away to Simurq. Sumgayit FK ( az, "Sumqayıt" futbol klubu, ) is an Azerbaijani football club based in Sumgayit that plays in the Azerbaijan Premier League. History The club was founded in 2010 as Sumgayit FK. In May 2011, the team secured their promotion to Azerbaijan Premier League after getting wildcard place instead of defunct Absheron.
