2013–14 FIS Snowboard World Cup
The 2013–14 FIS Snowboard World Cup is a multi race tournament over a season for snowboarding. The World Cup was organised by the FIS which also runs world cups and championships in alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, ski jumping, Nordic combined, and freestyle skiing. The FIS Snowboarding World Cup consisted of the parallel slalom, snowboard cross and the halfpipe. Ski Jumping
Ski jumping is a winter sport in which competitors aim to achieve the farthest jump after sliding down on their skis from a specially designed curved ramp. Along with jump length, competitor's aerial style and other factors also affect the final score. Ski jumping was first contested in Norway in the late 19th century, and later spread through Europe and North America in the early 20th century. Along with cross-country skiing, it constitutes the traditional group of Nordic skiing disciplines. The ski jumping venue, commonly referred to as a ''hill'', consists of the jumping ramp (''in-run''), take-off table, and a landing hill. Each jump is evaluated according to the distance traveled and the style performed. The distance score is related to the construction point (also known as the ''K-point''), which is a line drawn in the landing area and serves as a "target" for the competitors to reach. Andreas Prommegger
Andreas Prommegger (born 10 November 1980) is a professional snowboarder. His speciality is the Parallel competitions in Slalom, in which he is the 2017 and 2023 world champion, and Giant Slalom, in which he won the gold medal at the 2017 World Championships. He also won the silver medal in Parallel Slalom at the 2021 World Championships, losing the final to long-time friend and rival Benjamin Karl. By winning the 2023 Parallel Slalom title in Bakuriani at 42, he became the oldest world champion ever not only in snowboarding but in all FIS sanctioned events, except grass skiing. Alexander Bergmann
Alexander Bergmann (born 16 May 1987 in Ravensburg) is a German snowboarder, specializing in Alpine snowboarding. Bergmann competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics for Germany. He placed 11th in qualifying for the parallel giant slalom. In the eight-finals, he was beaten by Slovenia's Rok Flander. In the parallel slalom, he finished 24th in qualifying, not advancing. As of September 2014, his best showing at the World Championships is 21st, in the 2013 parallel giant slalom. Bergmann made his World Cup debut in December 2006. Sylvain Dufour (born 19 November 1982 in Saint-Dié-des-Vosges) is a French alpine snowboarder. He claimed two silver medals each in giant slalom and slalom at the 2009 FIS Snowboarding World Championships in Gangwon, South Korea, and later represented his nation France in two editions of the Olympic Games (2010 and 2014). Carezza Dolomites
The Carezza Dolomites or ''Karersee Dolomiten'' ( Tyrolean German) is a section of the Dolomites mountain range in South Tyrol, a linguistically German region in the Italian Alps. Half-pipe
A half-pipe is a structure used in gravity extreme sports such as snowboarding, skateboarding, skiing, freestyle BMX, skating, and scooter riding. Overview The structure resembles a cross-section of a swimming pool, essentially two concave ramps (or quarter-pipes), topped by copings and decks, facing each other across a flat transition, also known as a ''tranny''. Originally half-pipes were half sections of a large diameter pipe. Since the 1980s, half-pipes contain an extended ''flat bottom'' between the quarter-pipes. The original style half-pipes are no longer built. Flat ground provides time to regain balance after landing and more time to prepare for the next trick.
