2013–14 Basketball League Belgium Division I
The 2013–14 Basketball League Belgium Division I, for sponsorship reasons the 2013–14 Ethias League, was the 87th season top tier basketball league in Belgium. The season started on October 4, 2013 and finished on June 9, 2014. Telenet BC Oostende won their 3rd straight title by beating Okapi Aalstar 3–2 in the Finals. Dušan Djordjević was named Most Valuable Player. Teams Kangoeroes Basket Willebroek and Basic-Fit Brussels made their first Ethias League appearances after playing in the 2e Nationale in the 2012–13 season. Both clubs received a C-licence, which allows the teams to use a lower budget and doesn't allow them to play European but does to participate for three years. After those years they have to get an A or B-licence. Okapi Aalst is a Belgian professional basketball club from Aalst, Belgium. The club competes in the top tier BNXT League and plays its home games in the Okapi Forum, which has a seating capacity of 2,800 people. Okapi is a long-time participant of the Belgian first division, is the owner of one Belgian Cup and two Supercups. As well, Aalst was a regular participant in European competitions in the past. Willebroek
Willebroek (, old spelling: ''Willebroeck'') is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The municipality comprises the towns of , Heindonk, , Klein Willebroek, and Willebroek proper. In 2021, Willebroek had a total population of 27,081. The total area is 27.41 km². Willebroek is linked to Brussels by the Willebroek Canal. Mons was made into a fortified city by Count Baldwin IV of Hainaut in the 12th century. Kangoeroes Basket Mechelen, also known as Kangoeroes or Kangoeroes Mechelen, is a basketball club based in Mechelen, Belgium. Founded in 2009, the club plays in the BNXT League. Kangoeroes have been playing in the top tier division in Belgium for years, since 2013. Previously, the team played in Boom and Willebroek. In 2018, the club moved to Mechelen. History The club was founded in 2009, as a result of a merger between BBC Kangoeroes Willebroek and Boom BBC.
