2013 Motorcycle Grand Prix Of The Americas
The 2013 Grand Prix of the Americas was the second round of the 2013 MotoGP season. It was held at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas on 21 April 2013. This was the first GP race at the circuit. Marc Márquez won his first MotoGP race, in which was only his second race in the top level, and became the youngest ever rider to win a MotoGP race. It was the first Grand Prix since the 1982 Swedish Grand Prix where in all three categories, there were three new winners: at the Anderstorp it was Iván Palazzese (125cc), Roland Freymond (250cc) and Takazumi Katayama (500cc) who won. Nicholas Patrick Hayden (July 30, 1981 May 22, 2017), nicknamed "The Kentucky Kid", was an American professional motorcycle racer who won the MotoGP World Championship in 2006. Hayden began racing motorcycles at a young age. He began his road racing career in the CMRA before progressing to the AMA Supersport Championship and then to the AMA Superbike Championship. He won the AMA title in 2002 and was approached by the Repsol Honda team to race for them in MotoGP in 2003. Hayden largely had mixed results in his first 2 seasons at Repsol Honda only getting 4 podiums. He then rallied in the 2005 season by scoring his first Grand Prix win at Laguna Seca, and finishing third in the standings at the end of the season. Álvaro Bautista Arce (born 21 November 1984) is a Spanish motorcycle road racer. He won the 2022 Superbike World Championship, with Ducati factory team. Stefan Bradl (born 29 November 1989) is a German professional motorcycle racer. Bradl is best known for winning the Moto2 World Champion. Then he made the move to MotoGP in 2012 with LCR Honda. While in MotoGP, Bradl is best known for his performance at Laguna Seca getting the pole position and finishing second in the race behind Marc Marquez, ahead of Valentino Rossi. Takazumi Katayama (片山敬済, born April 16, 1951) is a Japanese former Grand Prix motorcycle road racing world champion.
