Olympique Lyonnais (), commonly referred to as simply Lyon () or OL, is a men and women's French professional football club based in Lyon in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. The men play in France's highest football division, Ligue 1. Founded in 1950, the club won its first Ligue 1 championship in 2002, starting a national record-setting streak of seven successive titles. Lyon has also won eight Trophées des Champions, five Coupes de France, and three Ligue 2 titles. Gueïda Fofana (; born 16 May 1991) is a former French footballer. He was a French youth international and has captained at all levels of youth. In 2010, he captained the France team that won the 2010 UEFA European Under-19 Football Championship on home soil. He operated as a defensive midfielder, but could also play as a defender and was known for his physical style of play. Fofana had been compared to Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira, however he was forced to retire on 18 January 2017 due to ongoing injury problems. Dejan Lovren
Dejan Lovren (; born 5 July 1989) is a Croatian professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Russian Premier League club Zenit Saint Petersburg and the Croatia national team. Lovren began his career at Dinamo Zagreb before moving to Olympique Lyonnais in January 2010. He spent three-and-a-half seasons with the Ligue 1 team and won the 2012 Coupe de France before he signed for Southampton in 2013. After one season with Southampton, he joined Liverpool for £20 million. Bakary Koné (, born 27 April 1988) is a Burkinabé former professional footballer who played as a centre back. Club career Early career Koné played on youth side for CFTPK Abidjan and joined in 2004 to Etoile Filante where he began his professional career in 2005. The Olympique Lyonnais Reserves & Academy are the reserve team and academy of France, French club Olympique Lyonnais. Mehdi Embareck Zeffane ( ar, مهدي إمبارك زفان; born 19 May 1992) is a professional footballer with Ligue 1 club Clermont. Rémy Vercoutre
Rémy René Paul Vercoutre (born 26 June 1980) is a French former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He's currently the goalkeeping coach of Olympique Lyonnais. Career Vercoutre was born in Grande-Synthe, Nord. He previously played for Montpellier, before moving to Lyon in 2002. In 2004, he joined Strasbourg on loan, but only managed to play eight games for them before returning to Lyon. He did however play as they won the 2005 Coupe de la Ligue Final. The 2011–12 season of Olympique Lyonnais was the club's 53rd season in Ligue 1. After a third-place finish last season, the club played in the UEFA Champions League for the 12th consecutive season.
