2012–13 Bangladesh Premier League
The 2013 Bangladesh Premier League season, also known as BPL 2 or Prime Bank BPL 2013 (for sponsorship reasons), was the second season of the Bangladesh Premier League, established by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) in 2012. The tournament began on 18 January 2013 and ended on 19 February. The competition featured seven teams, with the addition of the Rangpur Riders. Dhaka Gladiators became champions again by beating Chittagong Kings by 43 runs in the final. This season did not include any Pakistan players as the Pakistan Cricket Board refused to release the 27 players sold at the auction in retaliation to Bangladesh cancelling their international tour of Pakistan over safety issues. Venues Most of the matches were held at the Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium in Dhaka. For the first time, matches were played in Khulna at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium. The Bangladesh Cricket board ( bn, বাংলাদেশ ক্রিকেট বোর্ড; abbreviated as BCB) is the governing body of cricket in Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Cricket Board first became an associate member of the International Cricket Council in 1977 and on June 26, 2000 became a Full Member. BCB have three International Cricket teams which represent Bangladesh in international cricket, which are Bangladesh Men's national cricket team, Bangladesh women's national cricket team and Bangladesh under-19 cricket team. Rajshahi Royals ( Varendri/ bn, রাজশাহী রয়্যালস) were a Bangladeshi franchise Twenty20 cricket team. The team was based in Rajshahi in Bangladesh and competes in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), a Twenty20 franchise cricket competition. Fortune Barishal ( bn, ফরচুন বরিশাল) is a franchise cricket team plays in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), representing the country's Barishal Division. Following the 2015 competition, the team were one of the BPL's six existing members and participated in the league's 2016 edition. The team was originally established in 2012 for the inaugural BPL season as the Barisal Burners ( bn, বরিশাল বার্নার্স, often abbreviated as BB). The Burners were the BPL runners-up in 2012. Khulna Tigers ( bn, খুলনা টাইগার্স) are a franchise Twenty20 cricket team representing the Khulna division in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), a Twenty20 cricket tournament. The franchise was owned by Gemcon Sports and was founded in 2016 as a replacement for the Khulna Royal Bengals who had participated in the first two seasons of the BPL. 2012 Bangladesh Premier League
The 2012 Bangladesh Premier League, also known as Destiny- boishakhi BPL 2012 (for sponsorship reasons), was the first season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) established by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). The competition featured six franchises and used a tournament format with a double round robin group stage followed by two semi-finals and a final.
