2012 WPA World Eight-ball Championship
The 2012 WPA World Eight-ball Championship was a professional eight-ball championship, organized by the World Pool-Billiard Association (WPA), and held 11–18 February 2012 at the Fujairah Exhibition Centre of the Al Diar Siji Hotel in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates. A total of 96 players from all of the WPA's six regions participated. Dennis Orcollo winner of the 2012 event lost in the round of 32 to Karol Skowerski. The event was won by Chang Jung-lin, who defeated Fu Che-wei in the final 11–6. Dominic Jentsch (born 20 November 1991) is a German professional pool player. In 2006 he reached the final of the Under 17 European championships in 9-Ball. Two years later, he was again runner-up at the 2008 European championships, this time in the age group this time for straight pool, for under 19s. Jentsch's biggest success so far was reaching the last 16 at the World Straight Pool Championship in 2008 before losing 38–200 against Nick van den Berg. Joven Alba (born 24 August 1969) is a Filipino professional pool and snooker player. Alba was a professional pool player between 2009 and 2013, and having played snooker beforehand. Alba's biggest accomplishment was winning the team snooker event at the 2005 Southeast Asian Games. Mika Immonen (born 17 December 1972) is a Finnish professional Hall of Fame pool player, nicknamed "The Iceman." Career Immonen won the 2001 WPA World Nine-ball Championship in Cardiff, Wales. Konstantin Stepanov (born 26 September 1983) (russian: Константин Степанов) is a Russian professional pool player. In 2002 he was the Russian 8-ball champion. During the 2006 WPA Men's World Nine-ball Championship he survived the group stages, the round of 64 and the round of 32, but was eliminated in the round of 16 by Ralf Souquet.
