The 2012 University of North Dakota football team represented the University of North Dakota in the 2012 NCAA Division I FCS football season. They were led by fifth-year head coach Chris Mussman and played their home games at the Alerus Center. This was their first year as a member of the Big Sky Conference. This season North Dakota officially played without a mascot name after the decision to retire "Fighting Sioux" as the school's mascot amid controversy. They finished the season 5–6, in Big Sky play to finish in a three-way tie for eighth place. Schedule Despite also being a member of the Big Sky Conference, the game with Portland State on September 8 was considered a non conference game and had no effect on the Big Sky Standings. Chris Mussman
Christopher Mussman (born July 12, 1968) is an American football coach and former player. In March 2014 Mussman was hired as the co- offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at St. Cloud State University. He served as head football coach at the University of North Dakota from 2008 to 2013, compiling a record of 31–34. Mussman was a four-year letter-winner and starting offensive lineman at Iowa State University from 1987 to 1990. The 2012 Cal Poly Mustangs football team represented California Polytechnic State University in the 2012 NCAA Division I FCS football season. The Mustangs were led by fourth-year head coach Tim Walsh and played their home games at Alex G. Spanos Stadium. This is their first year as a member of the Big Sky Conference. Bozeman is a city and the county seat of Gallatin County, Montana, United States. The 2012 Montana State Bobcats football team represented Montana State University as a member of the Big Sky Conference during the 2012 NCAA Division I FCS football season. The Bobcats were led by sixth-year head coach Rob Ash and played their home games at Bobcat Stadium.
