2012 Montana Grizzlies Football Team
The 2012 Montana Grizzlies football team represented the University of Montana in the 2012 NCAA Division I FCS football season. The Grizzlies were led by first-year head coach Mick Delaney and played their home games on campus at Washington–Grizzly Stadium. Montana is a charter member of the Big Sky Conference. Previous head coach Robin Pflugrad was fired in March by university president Royce Engstrom before starting his third season. Mick Delaney
Michael Delaney (born December 2, 1942) is an American college football coach, and a former head coach at the University of Montana. Delaney was hired July 26, 2012, replacing former head coach Robin Pflugrad. Delaney is credited for coming out of retirement to help save the UM football program that was riveted with player off field scandals. Delaney has had extensive coaching experience. He was the assistant head coach at Montana State University from 1976–1980, head coach and athletic director at the University of Montana Western from 1991–1992, and running backs coach at Colorado State University from 1993 until 2007. Coaching career Delaney is originally from Butte, Montana. He began his coaching career at Butte Central High School (1964–1967), and then moved on to Great Falls High School (1969–1977), serving as head football coach the last four years. Alerus Center
The Alerus Center is an indoor arena and convention center in the north central United States, located in Grand Forks, North Dakota. The facility is owned and operated by the city of Grand Forks and opened on February 10, 2001. The arena's major tenant is the University of North Dakota football team, and also hosts many large concerts, sporting events, and trade shows. It can seat more than 21,000, though 12,283 is its capacity for football. The convention center section of the facility includes a ballroom and twelve meeting rooms. The convention center is used for conferences, seminars, banquets, parties, and smaller concerts. The 2012 University of North Dakota football team represented the University of North Dakota in the 2012 NCAA Division I FCS football season. They were led by fifth-year head coach Chris Mussman and played their home games at the Alerus Center. This was their first year as a member of the Big Sky Conference. This season North Dakota officially played without a mascot name after the decision to retire "Fighting Sioux" as the school's mascot amid controversy. Nottingham Field is an 8,533-seat multi-purpose stadium in the western United States, located on the campus of the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado. It is home to the Northern Colorado Bears football and track and field programs. History Nottingham field was erected in 1995 in order to relieve the aging facilities at Jackson Field. The EWU–UM Governors Cup is the college football rivalry game between the University of Montana Grizzlies and the Eastern Washington University Eagles, both members of the Big Sky Conference in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). The 2012 Eastern Washington Eagles football team represented Eastern Washington University in the 2012 NCAA Division I FCS football season. The team was coached by Beau Baldwin, who was in his fifth season with Eastern Washington.
