2012 UIFL Season
The 2012 United Indoor Football League season was the second season of the league. The league was split into two conferences, and four divisions (two divisions in each conference). On April 24, the league announced that it had taken over operations of the Mississippi Hound Dogs due to financial difficulty, and modified their schedule to make them a travel-only squad. On May 14, The UIFL suspended the ownership of Johnstown, Western Pennsylvania The result of the Johnstown suspension leads to the cancellation of the June 2 contest with Erie, and sets the field for the North division. Cincinnati, Erie and Marion will spend the final four weeks of the season fighting for playoff seeding. The Palm Beach Phantoms a former NIFL team will replace the Sting for its two games in Florida. The Phantoms, who are currently participating in an eight-man outdoor league, are applying for inclusion for the 2013 UIFL season. Ultimate Indoor Football League
The Ultimate Indoor Football League (UIFL) was a regional professional indoor football league that began its inaugural season on February 18, 2011 as the Ultimate Indoor Football League before playing as the United Indoor Football League in 2012, then switched back to "Ultimate" for the 2013 season. After the 2014 season, the league merged with X-League Indoor Football. History On February 18, 2011, the first-ever UIFL game was played between the Saginaw Sting and the Eastern Kentucky Drillers. The inaugural game was held at the Dow Event Center in Saginaw, Michigan. The league co-founders are Michael Taylor and Andrew Haines; Haines was also the owner and founder of the Atlantic/American Indoor Football League and the Mid-Atlantic Hockey League. 2012 Cincinnati Commandos Season
The 2012 Cincinnati Commandos season was the 3rd season for the franchise, and their first as a member of the Northern Conference of the United Indoor Football League (UIFL). Just one month after their 2011 CIFL Championship Game victory, the Commandos announced they were leaving the Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL) to join the UIFL. On August 23, 2011, it was announced that Bill Back would return as head coach for a 3rd season with the Commandos The Commandos finished the regular season 8-2 (7-2 in the Northern Conference), clinching the first round by with the top spot in the Northern Conference. The Commandos advanced to Ultimate Bowl II with a 60-42 victory over the Erie Explosion. The Commandos defeated the Florida Tarpons, 62-44 clinching their third consecutive championship. 2012 Rome Rampage Season
The 2012 Rome Rampage season was the first season for the United Indoor Football League (UIFL) franchise. On March 5, 2011, it was announced that indoor American football would be returning to Rome, Georgia in the form of the Rome River Dogs. On May 24, 2011, the River Dogs announced that they would be changing their name to the Rome Rampage, and that they would be playing at the Forum Civic Center. On May 31, 2011, the Rampage introduced Joe Micco as the franchise's first ever head coach. 2012 Mississippi Hound Dogs Season
The 2012 Mississippi Hound Dogs season was the 1st and only season for the United Indoor Football League (UIFL) franchise. On March 20, 2012, head coach Martino Theus was fired after an 0-3 start for the Hound Dogs. Former indoor player, Eric Bingham was hired as his replacement. However, when the UIFL stepped in when owner Marty Cooper couldn't afford the team, the UIFL took over the team and named Martino Theus the head coach once again. The Hound Dogs cancelled all remaining home games, but fulfilled all their remaining road games. 2012 Marion Blue Racers Season
The 2012 Marion Blue Racers season was the 2nd season for the United Indoor Football League (UIFL) franchise. On July 5, 2011, the Blue Racers announced they were leaving the CIFL to join the Ultimate Indoor Football League. The Blue Racers were added as a member of the Northern Conference, re-uniting with, their arch-rivals, the Cincinnati Commandos. On August 17, 2011, Lorenzo Styles was named the 3rd head coach in franchise history. In February, team CEO and General Manager, LaMonte Coleman, took a coaching position with the Pittsburgh Power of the Arena Football League. The following day, Ryan Sawyer was named the team's interim general manager while Coleman was coaching in Pittsburgh. On March 30, 2012, Styles resigned as the head coach of the Blue Racers after compiling a 3-1 record, citing personal reason as the reason for his resignation. 2012 Erie Explosion Season
The 2012 Erie Explosion season was the sixth season for the indoor American football franchise, and their first as a member of the Northern Conference of the United Indoor Football League (UIFL). On August 25, 2011, the Explosion left the Southern Indoor Football League (SIFL) and joined the United Indoor Football League. The change reunited Erie with Andrew Haines, who founded the city's previous indoor football team, the Erie Freeze. (The Explosion's departure came two weeks before the SIFL broke up into the Lone Star Football League and the Professional Indoor Football League, neither of which included Pennsylvania in their territories.) Indoor Football League
The Indoor Football League (IFL) is a professional indoor American football league created in 2008 out of the merger between the Intense Football League and United Indoor Football. It has one of the largest number of currently active teams among indoor football leagues. The league has operated continuously under the same name and corporate structure longer than any other current indoor football league. With the closure of the Arena Football League in 2019, the IFL is the oldest active professional indoor football league in North America. As of 2022 season, the league consists of 14 teams in two conferences with each team playing 16 games over 19 weeks. IFL players earn US$250–500 per game played, with a $25 bonus given to players on the winning team each week. Additionally, the teams provide housing for its players during the season.
