2012 Tajik League
In the 2012 season of the Tajik League, 13 teams participated. Khosilot, Istaravshan, and Zarafshon, were newly promoted, while Shodmon Ghissar withdrew from the competition. There was a limit of eight foreign players per team, with up to five on the field at a particular time. Only Parvoz Bobojon Ghafurov had the maximum of eight foreign footballers. The Tajikistan clubs' participation was upgraded from the AFC President's Cup to the AFC Cup starting in 2013 by the AFC, so two clubs (league champions and cup winners) went on to participate in the 2013 AFC Cup. Tajik League
The Ligai Olii Tojikiston ( Tajik: ''Лигаи Олии Тоҷикистон'') or Tajikistan Higher League ( fa, لیگ عالی فوتبال تاجیکستان, Russian: ''Высшая лига Таджикистана'') is the top division of professional football in Tajikistan. It is part of the Tajikistan Football League Organization and Tajikistan Football Federation. It was founded in 1992, with 8 clubs participating. The first champion of the league was CSKA Pomir Dushanbe. Currently the most successful team is FC Istiklol. FK Istaravshan
FC Istaravshan ( fa, باشگاه فوتبال استروشن) is a Tajik professional football club based in Istaravshan, that competes in the Tajikistan Higher League. The club was folded in 2013, but has since reformed. History In 2004, under the name "Uroteppa", finishing as Runners-up to Aviator Bobojon Ghafurov in the Tajik Cup whilst also finishing 6th in the Tajik League. In 2012, the club's stadium underwent a $3 million renovation upgrading its capacity to 20,000 seats. The Istaravshan Sports Complex was officially re-opened on 27 October 2012 by Emomalii Rahmon, the President of Tajikistan. At the end of the 2013 season, Istaravshan ceased to exist due to financial problems, being replaced by FK Daleron-Uroteppa in the Tajik League, after a failed merger between the two clubs. FK Khujand
FC Khujand ( tg, Клуби футболи «Хуҷанд»), ( fa, باشگاه فوتبال خجند), is a Tajik professional football club based in Khujand, currently playing in the Ligai Olii Tojikiston, the top division in the country. History FС Khujand was established in 1976 from the remnants of the club Pomir which was previously known as Miner. The first head coach of the team was Vladimir Burin. FC Khujand competed in the Central Asian Championship B League for 15 years. FС Khujand plays its home matches in Spartak Stadium which was located in the heart of the city before moving to the 20 Years of Independence Stadium (also known as 20-Letie Nezavisimosti Stadium). The Markazii Tojikiston Stadium (russian: Центральный республиканский стадион Душанбе; tg, Варзишгоҳи марказии Тоҷикистон, Varzishgohi Markazii Tojikiston), also known as Pamir Stadium or Central Tajikistan Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
