2012 Queen Elisabeth Music Competition
The 2012 Queen Elisabeth Music Competition is the competition's 50th edition, comprising its 17th Eugène Ysaÿe Violin Competition and its 19th Composition Competition. The violin competition took place between 30 April and 26 May 2012 in Brussels' Centre for Fine Arts, Brussels, Centre for Fine Arts. Queen Elisabeth Music Competition
The Queen Elisabeth Competition ( nl, Koningin Elisabethwedstrijd, french: Concours musical international Reine Élisabeth) is an international competition for career-starting musicians held in Brussels. The competition is named after Queen Elisabeth of Belgium (1876–1965). It is a competition for classical violinists (from 1937 to present), pianists (1938 to present), singers (1988 to present) and cellists (2017 to present). It also used to hold international competitions for composers from 1953 to 2012. The current Patron is Queen Mathilde of Belgium. Since its foundation it has been considered one of the most challenging and prestigious competitions for instrumentalists. Maria-Elisabeth Lott (born 2 June 1987) is a German violinist. Lott was born in 1987 in Schramberg, Baden-Württemberg. At the age of three, she began playing the violin. In 1998, Lott was selected as the first musician to play the restored violin Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart played as a child. Lott has been awarded numerous music awards and is internationally recognized as one of the best young German violinists. Richard Lin () (born 6 July 1991 at United States) is a Taiwanese American violinist. He won competitions in Poland, United States, Singapore, Japan, and Taiwan. In 2013 he won the first prize in the Sendai International Music Competition. In 2015 he was the third prize laureate in 9th Joseph Joachim International Violin Competition Hannover. Erzhan Kulibaev ( kk, Erjan Qulybaev; born 21 September 1986) is a Spanish violinist of Kazakh origin. Education Kulibaev began his formal musical education in 1995 at the Republican Special Music School for Talented Children of Kulyash Baiseitova (in Almaty, Kazakhstan) in the class of N. M. Petteri Iivonen
Petteri Iivonen (born 14 August 1987) is a Finnish violinist. He has studied at the Sibelius Academy, University of Southern California and the Tel Aviv University with Hagai Shaham. In 2005 he won the National Violin Competition in Kuopio, Finland and in 2010 he got 2nd Prize in the International Jean Sibelius Violin Competition. Iivonen's debut album called ''Art of the Violin'' was released by Yarlung Records in 2009, followed by ''Art of the Sonata'' in 2011, both with pianist Kevin Fitz-Gerald, and a recording as a member of the Sibelius Piano Trio in 2016. Nancy Zhou (born January 5, 1993) is a Chinese-American classical violinist. She has performed as a soloist in recital and with orchestras throughout the world. Zhou has been a prizewinner in several major competitions, including first prizes in the 2018 Shanghai Isaac Stern International Violin Competition and the 2018 International Music Competition Harbin. Yu-Chien Tseng
Yu-Chien (Benny) Tseng (; born August 24, 1994) is a Taiwanese violinist. In 2012 he was fifth laureate in the Queen Elisabeth Music Competition, where he also won both the Musiq'3 and the Klara-Canvas prizes awarded by the public. In the 15th International Tchaikovsky Competition held in 2015, Tseng won the 2nd prize in the violin contest, in which no first prize was awarded. Esther Yoo (born 11 June 1994) is an American violinist. Early life and education Born in the United States and raised in Europe, Yoo began playing the violin at the age of 4 and made her concert debut aged 8.
