The 2012 Prince Edward Island Scotties Tournament of Hearts, Prince Edward Island's women's provincial curling championship, was held from January 20 to 23 at the Charlottetown Curling Club in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. The winning team of Kim Dolan represented Prince Edward Island at the 2012 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Red Deer, Alberta, where her team finished with a 3-8 record. Meaghan Hughes (born January 3, 1986) is a Canadian Curling, curler from Charlottetown, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. She currently plays Second (curling), second on Team Suzanne Birt. She is a four-time PEI junior champion skip and five-time Prince Edward Island Scotties Tournament of Hearts, PEI Scotties champion. Cornwall is a Canadian town located in Queens County, Prince Edward Island. The town is located immediately west of the provincial capital Charlottetown. History The community of Cornwall traces its history to European settlement in the 18th century and was a predominantly farming community until the construction of Route 1, the Trans-Canada Highway, during the early 1910s. Several subdivisions were created near the intersection of the new highway with the Meadowbank Road, along with a small commercial strip. Cornwall Curling Club
The Cornwall Curling Club is a curling club in Cornwall, Prince Edward Island, Canada. History The Cornwall Village Council decided in 1979 to build a curling rink in the community, and construction began in 1981. The club officially opened in January 1982. Despite a number of hiccups in its first season, it did not take long for the club to produce a provincial champion. Nancy Coffin, Sharon Cole, Pam Sherren, and Heather Worth won the 1983 Prince Edward Island Junior Women's curling championship. She is a three-time PEI junior champion and five-time PEI Scotties champion. Career McQuaid competed at the 2007 Canada Winter Games as third for the Sarah Fullerton rink. They finished with a 1–5 record. She represented PEI at three Canadian Junior Curling Championships also as third for Fullerton from 2010 to 2012. In 2010, they finished seventh with a 6–6 record. In 2011, they improved from their previous season finishing in eighth with a 7–5 record. At her final trip to the juniors in 2012, they finished eighth, once again with a 6–6 record. Sarah Fullerton (born March 8, 1991) is a Canadian curler from Cornwall, Prince Edward Island. Career Junior career Sarah Fullerton has been a rising star on the curling scene in Prince Edward Island. In 2003, she captured the P.E.I 11 and under title. She would also win the 15 and under title in 2006, and between 2006 and 2009 she would capture the 17 and under title three times. In 2010, Fullerton represented Prince Edward Island at the 2010 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, where her team would finish with a 6–6 record. She would return in 2011 and finish with a 7–5 record. Rebecca Jean MacDonald (born Rebecca Jean MacPhee on March 25, 1974, in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island) is a Canadian curler from Stratford, Prince Edward Island. Career Juniors MacDonald made her first appearance on the curling scene as a skip at the 1991 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, when she would win the Prince Edward Island Junior Curling Championship. She would not find success at the National level, only finishing round robin with a 4–7 record. She would win the provincial championship again in 1992. This time her team would finish round robin with a 7–4 record at the 1992 Canadian Juniors, which was enough to secure a tiebreaker.
