2012 Pembrokeshire County Council Election
The fifth election to Pembrokeshire County Council was held on 3 May 2012. It was preceded by the 2008 election and followed by the 2017 election. On the same day there were elections to 20 of the other 21 local authorities in Wales (all except Anglesey), community council elections in Wales and other elections elsewhere in the United Kingdom All 60 council seats were up for election. The previous council was controlled by Independents as had been the case since the authority was formed in 1995. The Independents retained control in 2012. Councillors elected in this election are to serve an extended five-year term, after the Welsh Government announced the next elections would be moved from 2016 to 2017 to avoid clashing with the next Welsh Assembly election in 2016 (which in turn had been delayed a year to avoid clashing with the next general election). Pembrokeshire County Council
Pembrokeshire County Council ( cy, Cyngor Sir Penfro) is the governing body for Pembrokeshire, one of the Principal Areas of Wales. Political control The first election to the council was held in 1995, initially operating as a shadow authority before coming into its powers on 1 April 1996. Since 1996 the majority of the seats on the council have always been held by independent councillors, with different groupings forming among the independents at different times. Elections normally take place every five years. The last elections were on 5 May 2022. The 2021 elections were postponed to 2022 to avoid a clash with the 2021 Senedd election. Haverfordwest Priory (electoral Ward)
Haverfordwest Priory is the name of an electoral ward in Pembrokeshire, Wales. It covers the southern edge of the town of Haverfordwest, mostly west of the river but including Haverfordwest railway station at its eastern extreme, the Haverfordwest Priory from which it takes its name and the residential areas bounded by Freeman's Way and surrounding the Pembrokeshire College campus. Pembrokeshire County Council Elections
Pembrokeshire ( ; cy, Sir Benfro ) is a county in the south-west of Wales. It is bordered by Carmarthenshire to the east, Ceredigion to the northeast, and the rest by sea. St David's is the name of an electoral ward in Pembrokeshire, Wales. It covers the small city of St Davids and the ward's boundaries are coterminous with those of the community of St Davids and the Cathedral Close. Pembroke Dock Market is the name of an electoral ward in the town of Pembroke Dock, Pembrokeshire, Wales. Description Pembroke Dock Market ward covers the central area of the town between Bush Street and Milton Terrace, as well as Llanreath and Pembroke Dockyard. Pembroke Dock Llanion was the name of a county electoral ward in the town of Pembroke Dock, Pembrokeshire, Wales. Llanion remains as a ward for elections to Pembroke Dock Town Council. Pembroke St Mary South
Pembroke St Mary South was the name of an electoral ward in the town of Pembroke, Pembrokeshire, Wales. It covers the area including the town centre and Pembroke Castle and the town immediately to the west of St Daniel's Hill. The ward elected a county councillor to Pembrokeshire County Council and three town councillors to Pembroke Town Council. According to the 2011 UK Census the population of the ward was 1,434. A boundary review took place in 2019, where it was noted that the number of eligible voters was 33% below the average for an electoral ward in Pembrokeshire. As a result it was recommended that part of the neighbouring St Michael ward was transferred to the St Mary South ward, increasing the number of electors by 531. Pembroke St Mary North
Pembroke St Mary North is the name of an electoral ward in the town of Pembroke, Pembrokeshire, Wales. It covers the area of the town north of the Pembroke River and the Mill Pond. The ward elects a county councillor to Pembrokeshire County Council and four town councillors to Pembroke Town Council. According to the 2011 UK Census the population of the ward was 2,060. In July 2018 the sitting county councillor, David 'Dai' Boswell, was convicted and sentenced to 18 years in prison for rape and indecent assault. He resigned from his roles as county and town councillor. He had earlier resigned as mayor of Pembroke. Elections to Pembrokeshire County Council were held on 6 May 1999. It was preceded by the 1995 election and followed by the 2004 election. On the same day there were the first elections to the Welsh Assembly and elections to the other 21 local authorities in Wales and community councils in Wales. All council seats were up for election. Overview Boundary changes were introduced at this election. In the main, however, these resulted in the splitting of multi-member wards in urban areas into single-member wards. Maenclochog is the name of an electoral ward in Pembrokeshire, Wales. It covers the Maenclochog community and the two neighbouring communities of Llandissilio West and Clynderwen. The Maenclochog ward elects a councillor to Pembrokeshire County Council. According to the UK 2011 Census the population of the Maenclochog ward was 3,104 (with 2,443 of these over 18 years of age). Haverfordwest Castle (electoral Ward)
Haverfordwest Castle is the name of an electoral ward in Pembrokeshire, Wales. It covers the centre of the town of Haverfordwest west of the river including the High Street, Winch Lane and north along Crowhill Road. It elects a councillor to Pembrokeshire County Council. Castle ward also elects three community councillors to Haverfordwest Town Council. According to the 2011 UK Census the population of the ward was 2,301 (with 1,855 of voting age).
