Pembroke Dock Market
Pembroke Dock Market is the name of an electoral ward in the town of Pembroke Dock, Pembrokeshire, Wales. Description Pembroke Dock Market ward covers the central area of the town between Bush Street and Milton Terrace, as well as Llanreath and Pembroke Dockyard. Pembroke Dock Pennar ward lies to the south and Pembroke Dock Central lies to the north. The ward elects a county councillor to Pembrokeshire County Council and three town councillors to Pembroke Dock Town Council. According to the 2011 UK Census the population of the ward was 1,897. Town Council elections Town councillor and Pembroke Dock mayor Jane McNaughton resigned in November 2017 over the issue of dealing with alleged bullying of staff. A by-election took place on 22 March 2018 and local postmaster Terry Judkins won the seat with 147 votes on a 17.9% turnout. This list of electoral wards in Pembrokeshire includes council wards, which elect councillors to Pembrokeshire County Council and community wards, which elect councillors to community councils. The county is divided into 59 electoral divisions, all except one returning one councillor. Some of these divisions are coterminous with communities (civil parishes) of the same name. Pembrokeshire County Council ( cy, Cyngor Sir Penfro) is the governing body for Pembrokeshire, one of the Principal Areas of Wales. Political control The first election to the council was held in 1995, initially operating as a shadow authority before coming into its powers on 1 April 1996. Pembroke Dockyard
Pembroke Dockyard, originally called Pater Yard, is a former Royal Navy Dockyard in Pembroke Dock, Pembrokeshire, Wales. History It was founded in 1814, although not formally authorized until the Prince Regent signed the necessary Order in Council on 31 October 1815, and was known as ''Pater Yard'' until 1817. The Mayor of Pembroke had requested the change "in deference to the town of Pembroke some distant". The site selected for the dockyard was greenfield land and the closest accommodations were in Pembroke. Office space was provided by the old frigate after she was beached. The Royal Marine garrison was housed in the hulked 74-gun ship, , after she was run aground in 1832.
