2012 Oregon Elections
On November 6, 2012, the U.S. state of Oregon held statewide general elections for four statewide offices ( secretary of state, attorney general, treasurer, and commissioner of labor), both houses of the Oregon Legislative Assembly, and several state ballot measures. The primary elections were held on May 15, 2012. Both elections also included national races for President of the United States and five U.S. House Representatives. Numerous local jurisdictions — cities, counties, and regional government entities — held elections for various local offices and ballot measures on these days as well. Federal President of the United States Democratic incumbent Barack Obama defeated his Republican opponent Mitt Romney in the national presidential election. Oregon () is a U.S. state, state in the Pacific Northwest region of the Western United States. David Wu
David Wu (born April 8, 1955) is an American politician who served as the U.S. representative for from 1999 to 2011. He is a member of the Democratic Party. As a child of immigrants from Taiwan, Wu was the first Taiwanese American to serve in the House of Representatives. Wu announced that he would resign from office following resolution of the 2011 debt ceiling crisis, days after an 18-year-old woman left a voicemail at Wu's campaign office accusing him of an unwanted sexual encounter. Wu acknowledged the encounter and said it was consensual. Wu submitted his resignation on August 3, 2011. A special election was held on January 31, 2012, to fill the vacancy in advance of the regular 2012 election. Constitution Party Of Oregon
The Constitution Party of Oregon is a political party organized as a minor party pursuant to state election law, and recognized by the U.S. state of Oregon as a statewide nominating party. A state party was first organized under this name in 1952, as the state chapter of the newly-formed national Constitution Party. A new party was formed under this name in 2000 as an affiliate of the national Constitution Party, founded in 1991. It broke with the national party in 2006 over the issue of abortion. History The Constitution Party of Oregon was first formed in August 1952 by Louise Gronnert, Gladys Whelen, and Virgil Holland. Its history since then has not been continuous, though its goals have remained fairly consistent. Oregon Progressive Party
The Oregon Progressive Party is a political party in the U.S. state of Oregon. Originally called the Oregon Peace Party, it was accepted as the sixth minor statewide political party in Oregon on August 22, 2008. This allowed the party to nominate Ralph Nader as its candidate in the 2008 U.S. presidential election. In September 2009, the party changed its name to the Oregon Progressive Party, to "more accurately reflects the party's positions" on issues besides peace, including "social justice, consumer advocacy, environmental protection, and worker's rights." Membership Following the renaming of the party to the Oregon Progressive Party in September 2009, membership in the Oregon Peace Party ceased to exist by Oregon law.
