The president of Venezuela ( es, Presidente de Venezuela), officially known as the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela ( es, Presidente de la República Bolivariana de Venezuela), is the head of state and head of government in Venezuela. The president leads the National Executive of the Venezuelan government and is the commander-in-chief of the National Bolivarian Armed Forces. Presidential terms were set at six years with the adoption of the 1999 Constitution of Venezuela, and presidential term limits were removed in 2009. The office of president in Venezuela has existed since the 1811 Venezuelan Declaration of Independence from the Spanish Crown; the first president was Cristóbal Mendoza. Adán Chávez
Adán Chávez Frías (born April 11, 1953) is a Venezuelan politician who was Governor of Barinas state from 2008 to 2017. Previously he was Ambassador to Cuba and then Minister of Education from 2007 to 2008. He is the elder brother of Hugo Chávez, who was President of Venezuela from 1999 to 2013, and of the Mayor of Sabaneta, Barinas, Anibal José Chávez Frías. Guerilla affiliations Adán studied at the University of the Andes, in Mérida where he was involved with pro-guerrilla groups prior to the election of his brother Hugo into the presidency. Through Adán, Hugo met with guerrilla fighters Douglas Bravo and William Izarra. Political career After Hugo was elected as president, he appointed Adán as Ambassador to Cuba. Erika Farías
Erika del Valle Farías Peña (born 30 October 1972) is a Venezuelan politician. She served as Minister for the Office of the Presidency three times as Minister for Urban Agriculture, Minister for the Communes and deputy to the 2017 National Constituent Assembly. She is a militant and member of the National Directorate of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), and is currently the mayor of the Libertador Bolivarian Municipality of Caracas. Francisco José Ameliach Orta (born 14 June 1963) is a Venezuelan retired military officer and politician who is vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV). Political career Born in Valencia, Ameliach was part of the 1992 Venezuelan coup d'état attempts led by Hugo Chávez, later in 1999 he retired of the National Armed Forces in order to be candidate to the National Constituent Assembly. In 2000 he joined the Fifth Republic Movement and was elected to the National Assembly on 6 January 2000. He was reelected in 2005.
