Fifth Republic Movement
The Fifth Republic Movement (Spanish: ''Movimiento V uintaRepública'', MVR) was a socialist political party in Venezuela. It was founded in July 1997, following a national congress of the Revolutionary Bolivarian Movement-200, to support the candidacy of Hugo Chávez, the former President of Venezuela, in the 1998 presidential election. The "Fifth Republic" refers to the fact that in 1997 the Republic of Venezuela was the fourth in Venezuelan history, and the Movement aimed to re-found the Republic through a constituent assembly. Following Chávez' 1998 election victory, this took place in 1999, leading to the 1999 Constitution of Venezuela. At the legislative elections on 30 July 2000, the party won 91 out of 165 seats in the National Assembly. History Of Venezuela
The history of Venezuela reflects events in areas of the Americas colonized by Spain starting 1522; amid resistance from indigenous peoples, led by Native caciques, such as Guaicaipuro and Tamanaco. However, in the Andean region of western Venezuela, complex Andean civilization of the Timoto-Cuica people flourished before European contact. In 1811, it became one of the first Spanish-American colonies to declare independence, which was not securely established until 1821, when Venezuela was a department of the federal republic of Gran Colombia. It gained full independence as a separate country in 1830. During the 19th century, Venezuela suffered political turmoil and autocracy, remaining dominated by regional ''caudillos'' (military strongmen) until the mid-20th century. List of governors of states of Venezuela. Governors in Venezuela are in charge of the government and administration of each State. A Governor must be a Venezuelan over the age of 25 who is not a member of the clergy. The Governor can be elected for a term of four years by a majority vote. The Governor can be re-elected to an additional term only immediately and only once. Governors give a yearly public accounting to the State Comptroller for their office, and submit a report on the same to the Legislative Council and the Public Policy Planning and Coordination Council. The Democratic Unity Roundtable ( es, Mesa de la Unidad Democrática, MUD) was a catch-all electoral coalition of Venezuelan political parties formed in January 2008 to unify the opposition to President Hugo Chávez's United Socialist Party of Venezuela in the 2010 Venezuelan parliamentary election. A previous opposition umbrella group, the '' Coordinadora Democrática'', had collapsed after the failure of the 2004 Venezuelan recall referendum. The coalition was made of primarily centrist and centre-left parties. The main components were Democratic Action and Copei, the two parties who dominated Venezuelan politics from 1959 to 1999. Erika del Valle Farías Peña (born 30 October 1972) is a Venezuelan politician. She served as Minister for the Office of the Presidency three times as Minister for Urban Agriculture, Minister for the Communes and deputy to the 2017 National Constituent Assembly. She is a militant and member of the National Directorate of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), and is currently the mayor of the Libertador Bolivarian Municipality of Caracas.
