The Challenge Trophy (french: Trophée Challenge) is a national amateur soccer cup in Canada contested by the champions of individual provincial soccer competitions. It is one of the oldest soccer competitions in Canada, being held since 1913. It is run by the Canadian Soccer Association. History An unofficial Dominion championship for a trophy donated by The People newspaper of London, named the Peoples Shield, was contested from 1906–1912. Teams from all provinces did not enter the competition in each year, and it was contested by Western Canada in its last years. On May 24, 1912, the Amateur Athletic Union met in Toronto to determine a competition to crown a Canadian national champion. That year, the executive of the Dominion of Canada Football Association invited the Duke of Connaught to become the Patron of the Association. Royal-Sélect de Beauport is a Canadian soccer club that plays in the semi-professional Première ligue de soccer du Québec. They won the Canadian Challenge Trophy, a national amateur competition, in 2012. History Royal-Sélect de Beauport was founded in 1974. The Edmonton Scottish Soccer Club, better known as Edmonton Scottish, is a Canadian semi-professional soccer club based in Edmonton, Alberta. Competing continuously in the Alberta Major Soccer League (AMSL) since 1992, the club also fields reserve squads and adult teams across several leagues within the Edmonton and District Soccer Association (EDSA). The FC Winnipeg Lions (formerly known as Sons of Italy Lions Soccer Club), formed in 1995, is a Canadian soccer club that competes in the Manitoba Major Soccer League. PEI FC is a senior men's amateur soccer club from Charlottetown, PEI. The team is composed mainly of current and former UPEI Men's Soccer players. They were the 2008–2013 provincial representative for Prince Edward Island at the BMO Canadian National Soccer Championships and were the 2010 Challenge Cup champions. History NSSL From 2000 to 2007, the team was known as Breakers FC/VUFC. In 2007 and 2008, the team played in the Nova Scotia Soccer League due to a lack of a premier league on Prince Edward Island.
