2012 Canadian Senior Curling Championships
The 2012 Canadian Senior Curling Championships were held from March 17 to 25 at the Abbotsford Recreation Centre in Abbotsford, British Columbia. British Columbia last hosted the Canadian Seniors in 2004, and has previously hosted 6 Canadian Senior men's championships and five Canadian Senior women's championships. The winners of the championships went on to represent Canada at the 2013 World Senior Curling Championships. Abbotsford, British Columbia
Abbotsford is a city located in British Columbia, adjacent to the Canada–United States border, Greater Vancouver and the Fraser River. With an estimated population of 153,524 people it is the largest municipality in the province outside metropolitan Vancouver. Abbotsford-Mission has the third highest proportion of visible minorities among census metropolitan areas in Canada, after the Greater Toronto Area and the Greater Vancouver CMA. 2013 Canadian Senior Curling Championships
The 2013 Canadian Senior Curling Championships were held from March 16 to 24 at the Silver Fox Curling & Yacht Club in Summerside, Prince Edward Island. Summerside last hosted the Canadian Senior Championships in 2009. The winners of the championships will go on to represent Canada at the 2014 World Senior Curling Championships. Eugene Hritzuk
Eugene Hritzuk (born c. 1949) is a Canadian curler from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He is a former World Senior men's champion skip. Hritzuk has won two provincial championships as skip, once in 1985 and again in 1988. This qualified him for the Brier both times. At the 1985 Labatt Brier, he finished the round robin with a 6-5 record. He had to play in two tie-breakers, which he won to get to the semi-final, where he lost to Northern Ontario's Al Hackner. At the 1988 Labatt Brier, he finished the Brier with an 8-3 record, and lost to Alberta's Pat Ryan in the final. It would be his last Brier. Since then, Hritzuk has been a successful seniors curler, and has represented Saskatchewan at the Canadian Seniors Championships in 2002, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2012. Pierre Charette
Pierre G. "The Duffer" Charette (born June 23, 1955) is a Canadian curler from Ottawa, Ontario. He currently coaches the Silvana Tirinzoni rink Career Born in Masson, Quebec, Charette has played in thirteen Briers, and was the first curler to have played every position (including alternate) at a Brier. He skipped teams in 1989, 1993 and 2007; played third for Guy Hemmings in 1998 and 1999, played second for Don Westphal in 1997, played lead for Westphal in 1996 and was the alternate for Kevin Adams in 1991, Ted Butler in 1992 and Jean-Michel Ménard in 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017. Charette's best performance at the Brier was the two years he played for Hemmings, where they lost in the Brier final on both occasions. Kelly Robertson
Kelly Robertson (born c. 1956) is a Canadian curler and grain and cattle farmer from Neepawa, Manitoba. At the age of 54, Robertson won his biggest event in his career by winning the 2011 Canadian Senior Curling Championships in his first try. Until winning the 2011 Manitoba Senior provincial, Robertson had not even won a provincial title of any sort. His only national experience was filled in as skip for an absent Mike McEwen at the 2003 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship, where he finished with a 6-5 record. Robertson finished the 2011 Canadian Senior Curling Championships round robin with a 10-1 record and went on to beat Alberta's Brad Hannah in the final. Robert Wesley Gordon (born January 2, 1969) is an American auto racing driver. He has raced in NASCAR, CART, the IndyCar Series, the Trans-Am Series, IMSA, IROC and the Dakar Rally. He is active in top-tier off road motorsports such as BITD, NORRA, and SCORE International. Rob Armitage (curler)
Robert Benjamin Armitage ( Herlein; September 27, 1957 – November 28, 2022) was a Canadian curler. Early life Armitage was born in 1957, the son of Magdalena (Maggie) and Aloysius (Lloyd) Herlein. The family lived in Red Deer, Alberta when his father was killed in a car accident in 1961, and the family temporarily moved to Fusilier, Saskatchewan before moving back to Red Deer a few months later. His mother re-married in 1965 to her new husband Glen Armitage. His mother was killed at a train crossing in 1969, and Glen adopted Rob and his siblings in 1970, which resulted in Rob's surname changing to Armitage. Glen remarried later that year. Armitage played many sports in his youth, including badminton, Canadian football, rugby, broomball, slow pitch baseball, and fastball in addition to curling. Curling On TSN
TSN's coverage of Curling consists of the Curling Canada, Continental Cup of Curling, the TSN Skins Game, the World Curling Championships, and Olympic Curling. Curling Canada TSN originally broadcast Curling Canada (known through February 2015 as the Canadian Curling Association, or CCA) events, including the opening rounds of the Montana's Brier, the Scotties Tournament of Hearts from 1984-2003. CBC Sports, who had previously shared rights with TSN, became the sole broadcaster of CCA tournaments in 2004. The CCA terminated their deal with the CBC after one season.
