2012 Atlantic Coast Conference Football Season
The 2012 ACC football season is an NCAA football season that will be played from September 1, 2012, to January 1, 2013. The Atlantic Coast Conference consists of 12 members in two divisions. The Atlantic division consists of Boston College, Clemson, Florida State, Maryland, North Carolina State and Wake Forest. The Coastal division consists of Duke, Georgia Tech, Miami, North Carolina, Virginia, and Virginia Tech. The division champions will meet on December 1 in the 2012 ACC Championship Game, at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. This season also marks the 60th football season in the conference's history. Preseason Preseason Poll The 2012 ACC Preseason Poll was announced at the ACC Football Kickoff meetings in Greensboro, NC on July 23. The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) is a nonprofit organization that regulates student athletics among about 1,100 schools in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. 2012 ACC Championship Game
The 2012 ACC Championship Game was the eighth football championship game for the Atlantic Coast Conference. It featured the winners of the ACCs two divisions, the Atlantic Division's Florida State Seminoles and the Coastal Division's Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. With three teams tied for the first place in the Coastal Division, only Georgia Tech was eligible for the Championship Game. Miami self-imposed a postseason ban in a bid to lessen possible NCAA sanctions (see 2011 University of Miami athletics scandal). North Carolina was serving a one-year bowl ban handed down by the NCAA as part of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill football scandal. Conner Vernon
Conner Vernon (born August 18, 1990) is an American football wide receiver who is currently a free agent. He was signed by the Oakland Raiders as an undrafted free agent in 2013 and spent time on the Cleveland Browns' practice squad, the Cincinnati Bengals and the Detroit Lions. He played college football at Duke. High school Conner attended Gulliver Preparatory School in Miami, Florida. He was a three-year letterman at Gulliver Prep under coach Earl Sims. As a senior, he caught 60 passes for 1,163 yards and 11 touchdowns to earn first-team all-state honors, he also led the Miami area in receiving yards in 2008 while helping Gulliver to a 12-2 record and berth in the Florida 2A state title game. Tanner Price is a former American football quarterback. He played college football at Wake Forest. He also attended Westlake High School in Texas. High school career Price attended Westlake High School in Austin, Texas. He helped Westlake to the state 5A state championship game as a senior. In the championship game, he threw for 250 yards and rushed for 92 yards on 20 carries. His Senior year he was also named second team All-Centex and was District 25-5A offensive MVP. Bryn Renner (born January 22, 1990) is an American football coach and former quarterback who was most recently the quarterbacks coach at FIU. He played college football at the University of North Carolina from 2009 to 2013 for head coaches Butch Davis, Everett Withers, and Larry Fedora. He was the starter for the Tar Heels from 2011 to 2013. Tajh Khiry Boyd (born September 25, 1990) is an American football coach and former quarterback who currently is an offensive assistant at Clemson. He was drafted by the New York Jets in the sixth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He played college football at Clemson, where he was the starting quarterback from 2011 to 2013.
