2011–12 Saint Joseph's Hawks Men's Basketball Team
The 2011–12 Saint Joseph's Hawks basketball team represented Saint Joseph's University during the 2011–12 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Hawks, led by 17th year head coach Phil Martelli, played their home games at Hagan Arena and are members of the Atlantic 10 Conference. They finished the season 20–14, 9–7 in A-10 to finish in a four-way tie for fifth place. They lost in the quarterfinals of the A-10 Basketball tournament to St. Bonaventure. They were invited to the 2012 National Invitation Tournament where they lost in the first round to Northern Iowa. Phil Martelli
Philip Martelli Sr. (born August 31, 1954) is an American college basketball coach, who is currently the associate head coach for the Michigan Wolverines men's basketball, Michigan Wolverines. As the former head coach of the Saint Joseph's Hawks men's basketball, St. Joseph's Hawks, he led Saint Joseph's to seven NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, NCAA Tournaments and six National Invitation Tournament, NIT appearances in 24 seasons as head coach. Playing career Martelli was a point guard for Widener University. As point guard, he was part of the NCAA Men's Division III Basketball Championship, NCAA Division III tournament teams in 1974-75 and 1975–76, and set the school's single season and career assist marks. Halil Kanacević
Halil Kanacević (born October 23, 1991) is an American-born Montenegrin professional basketball player for Trikala Aries of the Greek Basket League. Previously, he played basketball with Saint Joseph's University, where he helped lead the team to the 2014 Atlantic 10 championship. Personal life Kanacević was born in South Beach, Staten Island, New York to ethnic Albanian parents from Bar, Montenegro. His parents emigrated to the United States from SR Montenegro, SFR Yugoslavia in the late 1980s. High school career Kanacević attended and played basketball for Curtis High School. Although he excelled, Curtis was a chronically overlooked high school in basketball circles, and had the misfortune of barely missing chances to make long runs in New York high school basketball competition. Stadium College Sports (formerly Fox College Sports) is a group of three American sports networks. Owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group and Entertainment Studios (under the joint venture Diamond Sports Group), the three channels air college and high school sporting events and programming.
