2011–12 Club América Season
The 2011–12 Club América, América season was the 65th professional season of Mexican Primera División, Mexico's top-flight football league. The season is split into two tournaments—the Torneo Apertura and the Torneo Clausura—each with identical formats and each contested by the same eighteen teams. América began their season on July 25, 2011 against Querétaro F.C., Querétaro, América play their homes games on Sundays at 4:00pm local time. Club América
Club de Fútbol América S.A. de C.V., commonly known as Club América or simply América, is a professional football club based in Mexico City. Nicknamed ''Las Águilas'' (The Eagles), it competes in Liga MX, the top tier of Mexican football. The club was founded in 1916, and since 1959 has been owned by media company Televisa. The team plays its home games at the Estadio Azteca, the largest stadium in Latin America, and one of the largest stadiums in the world. América is one of the founding members of the Primera División. The club has a long-standing rivalry with Guadalajara, as both are the most successful and most popular teams in the country, and are the only clubs to have never been relegated. Juan Carlos Valenzuela Hernández (born 15 May 1984) is a Mexican former professional Association football, footballer who played as a Defender (association football), centre-back. José Joaquín Martínez
José Joaquín Martínez Valadez (born 22 February 1987) is a Mexican professional footballer who plays as a right-back for Liga MX club Cruz Azul. His nickname is ''Shaggy'', as he resembles the Scooby-Doo character, Shaggy. Club career Martínez played 38 Primera División matches for Club América before being released in 2012. After spending several seasons at the Ascenso MX with Necaxa, Martínez would finally go on to re surge to first division with Pachuca. Paul Aguilar
Paul Nicolás Aguilar Rojas (born 6 March 1986) is a Mexican former professional footballer who played as a right-back. Aguilar represented Mexico at the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cup, as well as the 2011 and 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup, and the Copa América Centenario. Club career Pachuca Paul Aguilar began his career with Pachuca in 2002. He started off in Pachuca's affiliate (second division) team, Pachuca Juniors. Miguel Layún
Miguel Arturo Layún Prado (born 25 June 1988) is a Mexican professional footballer who plays as a right-back for Liga MX club América. Layún began his career in 2006 with Veracruz, and in 2009 signed for Italian club Atalanta, becoming the first Mexican player to play in the Serie A, where he only made two substitute appearances. He returned to Mexico in 2010 with Club América, winning two league titles before joining Spanish club Granada at the end of December 2014 and shortly after, English club Watford in January 2015. Ángel Eduardo Reyna Martínez (born 19 September 1984) is a Mexican former professional footballer who played as an attacking midfielder. Club career Early career Reyna came out of Club América's reserves but was given his professional debut at San Luis on 31 July 2005. Edgar Eduardo Castillo Carrillo (born October 8, 1986) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a left-back. Castillo is noted for being one of five players to earn a senior cap for both sides of the United States-Mexico rivalry. Youth Castillo grew up in Las Cruces, New Mexico, and played for Mayfield High School under coach Arturo Garibay. In 2002, as a sophomore, he was named NSCAA/Adidas High School State Player of the Year. Diego Antonio Reyes Rosales (; born 19 September 1992) is a Mexican professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Liga MX club Tigres UANL. He is an Olympic gold medalist.
