2011 Tour De Picardie
The 2011 Tour de Picardie was the 65th edition of the Tour de Picardie cycling stage race. It started on 13 May in Abbeville and ended on 15 May in Peronne and consisted of three stages. The race was won by Team Vacansoleil-DCM rider Romain Feillu, who claimed the leader's yellow and blue jersey after a strong finish on the 3rd stage. Feillu' winning margin over runner-up Kenny De Haes of Omega Pharma-Lotto was 8 seconds, and Katusha's Filippo Pozzato completed the podium, 8 seconds down on Feillu. In the race's other classifications, Omega-Pharma Lotto rider Kenny de Haes won the points classification's green jersey. Bretagne-Schuller rider Johan Lethe King of the Mountains classification, with Saur-Sojasun finishing at the head of the teams classification. Martin Elmiger
Martin Elmiger (born 23 September 1978) is a Swiss former road racing cyclist, who rode professionally between 2001 and 2017 for the Post Swiss Team, , , and squads. During his career, Elmiger was a four-time winner of the Swiss National Road Race Championships. Career Early career Born in Hagendorn, Elmiger's sporting career began with RMV Cham-Hagendorn. The points classification is a secondary award category in road bicycle racing. Points are given for high finishes and, in some cases, for winning sprints at certain places along the route, most often called ''intermediate sprints''. General Classification
The general classification (or the GC) in road bicycle racing is the category that tracks overall times for riders in multi-stage races. Each stage will have a stage winner, but the overall winner in the GC is the rider who has the fastest cumulative time across all stages.BBC Sport http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sport/tour_de_france/378101.stm Hence, whoever wins the GC is generally regarded as the winner of the race. Riders who finish in the same group are awarded the same time, with possible subtractions due to time bonuses. Jimmy Casper (born 28 May 1978 in Montdidier, Somme) is a French retired road bicycle racer, who competed as a professional between 1998 and 2012. He is best known for winning stage 1 of 2006 Tour de France. Career He has on two occasions finished in last place in the General classification of the Tour de France, thereby 'winning' the red lantern. Casper was suspended from his team, Agritubel because he tested positive for corticosteroid, an asthma drug that is banned unless the user has a medical exemption for its use, during the 2008 Tour de France by the Agence Française de Lutte contre le Dopage. The exemption had been renewed but with a previous asthma medication than the one prescribed and used during the Tour de France.
