2011 Speedway Grand Prix Of Croatia
The 2011 FIM Nice Croatian Speedway World Championship Grand Prix was the tenth race of the 2011 Speedway Grand Prix season. It took place on September 24 at the Stadium Milenium in Donji Kraljevec, Croatia. Riders The Speedway Grand Prix Commission nominated Matej Žagar as Wild Card, and Dino Kovačić and Matija Duh both as Track Reserves. The Draw was made on September 23. Results Grand Prix was won by Andreas Jonsson who beat Chris Harris, Fredrik Lindgren and Greg Hancock in the final. After the event, championship leader Greg Hancock has more than 24 points over second Andreas Jonsson and becoming 2011 World Champion. Hancock is the oldest World Champion in history, beating Ivan Mauger. Between first and last champion title was 14 years; former the longest period was 11 years (Mauger 1968-1979). Donji Kraljevec
Donji Kraljevec ( hu, Murakirály) is a village and municipality in Međimurje County, Croatia. Geography and demographics In the 2011 census, the municipality had a population of 4,659. Of the entire population, a total of 4,578 people (98.3%) identified themselves as Croats. The village of Donji Kraljevec is located around 20 kilometres south-east of Čakovec, the county seat and largest city of Međimurje County, and just over 4 kilometres north-east of Prelog, the second largest city of the county. In the 2001 census, the village had a population of 1,694 and was also the largest village in the municipality. Matej Žagar (born 3 April 1983 in Ljubljana, Slovenia) is a Slovenian motorcycle speedway rider who was won two Individual Speedway European Champion titles in 2004 and 2008. Career In 2002, he won the 2002 Individual Speedway Junior European Championship and the following year made his debut in the Individual World Championship. He began his career in the United Kingdom with the Trelawny Tigers in 2003 before moving to the Reading Racers in 2004 when the Tigers closed. He became a permanent rider in the 2006 Speedway Grand Prix and 2007 Speedway Grand Prix seasons. Matěj Kůs (born 11 July 1989) is a Czech international motorcycle speedway racer, Multiple Czech Republic Champion (10 times), and European Pairs Champion (2 times). He has also has raced for several clubs in the British Premier League. His promising career has stopped because of several injuries in the past. Damian Baliński (born 5 August 1977, in Poland) is an international motorcycle speedway rider and a current member of Poland national team. He has ridden since 1994 with Unia Leszno. Matija Duh (3 April 1989 – 3 February 2013) was a Slovenian international motorcycle speedway rider. Duh raced in Poland for KSM Krosno, Orzeł Łódź, and Ostrovia Ostrów Wielkopolski. He also represented Slovenia on several occasions. Duh appeared in two Grand Prix - the Croatian events in 2010 and 2011, where he appeared as a reserve. Antonio Lindbäck (born 5 May 1985 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) is a former international motorcycle speedway rider who competed in the Speedway World Championship, finishing eighth in 2016, and was a member of the Swedish team who won the Speedway World Cup in 2004 and 2015.
