2011 Paris–Tours
The 2011 Paris–Tours was the 105th edition of this single day road bicycle racing event. Greg Van Avermaet outsprinted Marco Marcato in the final meters to stay out of the grip of the chasing group and peloton. Van Avermaet thereby won the biggest race of his career so far. Course The course saw the introduction of a new finale; the construction of a tram line on the Avenue de Grammont in central Tours led to the organisers shortening the finishing straight by 2.4 km. The new finish led to suggestions that the traditional sprint finish could be hampered, as there would be less time for the peloton to chase down any breakaways after the final climb. Mickaël Delage (born 6 August 1985) is a French former professional road and track cyclist, who last rode for UCI WorldTeam . Career Born in Libourne, Delage participated at the World Track Championships in Moscow in 2003 as a junior, where he won the silver medal at the points race, after Australian Miles Olman. In that same year he would become national junior champion of France at the team pursuit (alongside Jonathan Mouchel, Yannick Marie and Mickaël Mallie) and the madison (together with Mouchel). In 2004 he would win the national title in the points race at the under-23 level. Delage spent 17 years as a professional rider on the road, riding for 15 of those years with the team across two spells. Andreas Klier (born 15 January 1976) is a retired German professional road racing cyclist. He competed professionally between 1996 and 2013. Klier moved into a managerial role with his final professional team, , after announcing his retirement as a rider on 13 May 2013. On 15 August 2013, Klier admitted he used performance-enhancing drugs between 1999 and 2006. Born in Munich, Bavaria, Germany, Klier currently resides in the Balearic Island of Majorca. Rubens Bertogliati (born 9 May 1979 in Lugano) is a Swiss retired road racing cyclist, whose breakthrough came in the 2002 Tour de France, when he was riding for the Italian team. In 2012, he rode for , and ended his career at the end of the season. Bertogliati won the first stage of the Tour, which took place in the hilly country of Luxembourg. The victory also earned him the yellow jersey as leader of the general classification. He kept the jersey after stage two, when he finished in 29th position. After the third stage, German sprinter Erik Zabel took the leader's yellow jersey from Bertogliati. Bertogliati's first win came a few months earlier at the GP Chiasso, but it was his efforts in July that made him famous. He started his career as a professional with the team in 2000.
