2011 New Year Honours (New Zealand)
The 2011 New Year Honours in New Zealand were appointments by Elizabeth II in her right as Queen of New Zealand, on the advice of the New Zealand government, to various orders and honours to reward and highlight good works by New Zealanders, and to celebrate the passing of 2010 and the beginning of 2011. Elizabeth II
Elizabeth II (Elizabeth Alexandra Mary; 21 April 1926 – 8 September 2022) was Queen of the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth realms from 6 February 1952 until her death in 2022. She was queen regnant of 32 sovereign states during her lifetime, and was head of state of 15 realms at the time of her death. Peter Bush (photographer)
Peter George Bush (born 16 October 1930) is a New Zealand photographer and photojournalist, best known as the country's leading sports photographer. He has also served as a war correspondent, and is the long-serving vice president of the National Press Club. Born on 16 October 1930, Bush was educated at Sacred Heart College, Auckland. His sports journalism career began in 1949, when he photographed his first rugby union test match for ''The New Zealand Herald''. Since then he has photographed most All Black matches in a career that has spanned over 60 years. A major exhibition of his sixty-year career of rugby photographs, "Hard on the heels", toured thirteen centres in New Zealand in 2010–11. In the 1991 New Year Honours, Bush was awarded the Queen's Service Medal for public services. Ian Warrington
Ian James Warrington is a New Zealand horticultural scientist and science administrator. He is a former chief executive of HortResearch (now Plant & Food Research). He was a senior administrator at Massey University until his position was axed in a cost-saving move. Warrington earned a master's degree at Massey University in 1974 with a thesis on artificial light spectra and plant growth. Warrington received the T. K. Rotorua
Rotorua () is a city in the Bay of Plenty region of New Zealand's North Island. The city lies on the southern shores of Lake Rotorua, from which it takes its name. Ricki Herbert
Ricki Lloyd Herbert (born 10 April 1961) is a New Zealand former footballer and manager. He is the current technical director at Cambridge FC. Herbert was formerly head coach of the New Zealand national team, stepping down after the side failed to qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Herbert represented his country at the 1982 FIFA World Cup in Spain and coached the New Zealand national team at the 2010 FIFA World Cup, famously leading them through the tournament unbeaten. David John Hay (born ) is a New Zealand politician and businessman. He served as mayor of Mt Roskill from 1987 to 1989, and deputy mayor of Auckland City on three occasions (1991–1998, 2001–2004, and 2007–2010). Castle Hill, New Zealand
Castle Hill is a location and a high country station in New Zealand's South Island. It is located at an altitude of 700 metres, close to State Highway 73 between Springfield and Arthur's Pass. It is private property and located within the Kura Tawhiti Conservation Area. The hill was so named because of the imposing array of limestone boulders in the area reminiscent of an old, run-down stone castle. The front of ChristChurch Cathedral in Christchurch was made from Castle Hill limestone. The station was established by the Porter brothers, and later owned by brothers John and Charles Enys. John Enys was a noted entomologist, and friend of novelist Samuel Butler.
