2011 Desert Cup
The 2011 Desert Diamond Cup (formerly known as the ''Desert Cup'' and also known as the ''FC Tucson Desert Diamond Cup'') was a preseason soccer tournament held at Hi Corbett Field in Tucson, Arizona. The tournament, the first edition of the Desert Cup, was held from March 4-5, 2011 and featured two Major League Soccer clubs along two US Club Soccer clubs. The tournament was won by Sporting Kansas City, who edged the New York Red Bulls on goal differential. Sporting Kansas City
Sporting Kansas City, often shortened to Sporting KC, is an American men's professional Association football, soccer club based in the Kansas City metropolitan area. The administrative offices are located in Downtown Kansas City, Missouri, and the team clubhouse and practice facilities are located in Kansas City, Kansas, near Children's Mercy Park. The club competes as a member of the Western Conference (MLS), Western Conference in Major League Soccer (MLS), having returned in 2015 after spending ten seasons in the Eastern Conference (MLS), Eastern Conference. Graham Jonathan Zusi (; born August 18, 1986) is an American professional soccer player who currently plays as a midfielder or defender for Major League Soccer club Sporting Kansas City. From 2012 to 2017, Zusi represented the United States national team, earning 55 caps and scoring 5 goals. Zusi is the longest-tenured player to have played with one club in MLS history. Kei Ansu Kamara (; born 1 September 1984) is a Sierra Leonean professional footballer who plays as a striker for CF Montréal of Major League Soccer. Dane O'Brian Richards (born 14 December 1983) is a Jamaican former professional footballer, who played as a winger.
