2011 Canadian Championship
The 2011 Canadian Championship (officially the Nutrilite Canadian Championship) was a soccer tournament hosted and organized by the Canadian Soccer Association that took place in the cities of Edmonton, Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver in 2011. As in previous tournaments, participating teams included the Montreal Impact, Toronto FC and Vancouver Whitecaps FC. FC Edmonton participated in this year's competition for the first time. Toronto FC won the tournament, claiming the Voyageurs Cup and Canada's entry into the preliminary round of the 2011–12 CONCACAF Champions League. The tournament has been held annually since 2008. The format of the 2011 tournament was different from previous editions. Toronto Football Club (commonly known as Toronto FC or TFC) is a Canadian professional soccer club based in Toronto. The club competes in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the Eastern Conference. Voyageurs Cup
The Voyageurs Cup (french: Coupe des Voyageurs) is the domestic trophy for professional soccer in Canada, awarded to the best men's and women's clubs in the country. The Cup was conceived and commissioned by fans of the Canada men's national team, the Voyageurs, in 2002. From 2002 to 2007, the cup was awarded annually to the Canadian team finishing with the best record in the USL First Division, from regular-season matches against other Canadian teams in the league. Since 2008, the trophy has been presented to the winner of the Canadian Championship, which also awards Canada's berth in the CONCACAF Champions League. Philippe Billy
Philippe Billy (born 13 January 1982) is a French former professional footballer who played as a defender. Club career Billy was born in Nantes. He played extensively at French football clubs after making his professional debut in 2000, for clubs including Bastia in Ligue 1 and Laval and Brest in Ligue 2. He also played several seasons for Lecce in the Italian Serie A between 2001 and 2006, and one season with Mons in the Belgian Jupiler League in 2004–05. The team captain of an association football team, sometimes known as the skipper, is a team member chosen to be the on-pitch leader of the team; they are often one of the older or more experienced members of the squad, or a player that can heavily influence a game or has good leadership qualities. Nevio Pizzolitto
Nevio Pizzolitto (born August 26, 1976) is a Canadian soccer player who most recently played for Montreal Impact in the North American Soccer League. Career Youth Pizzolitto began playing youth soccer with the Sporting-Patriotes of the Quebec Elite Soccer League in 1990. He was picked several times on the LSEQ all-star teams, was also proclaimed Defender of the Year. He helped helping Sporting-Patriotes reach the national club championship in the U15 category in 1990, and later went on to win the national title at the U19 level in 1994. Professional Pizzolitto signed with Montreal Impact in the summer of 1995, becoming an important key to Montreal's defence. Bill Gaudette
William Gaudette (born September 14, 1981 in Hummelstown, Pennsylvania) is a retired American-born Puerto Rican footballer who played for several MLS teams and the Puerto Rican national team. Gaudette commenced his soccer career at Lower Dauphin High School, period in which he had the opportunity to train with a talented Brazilian host brother before matriculating onto St. John's University at the college level and becoming an All-American. Also suiting up for the Brooklyn Knights of the USL Premier Development League during the collegiate off-season. After an exceptional career at St. John's, the Columbus Crew selected him 9th overall in the 2005 MLS Draft. His tenure with the Crew saw him serve primarily as backup to Jon Busch due to injury. Terry Dunfield
Terence Dunfield (born February 20, 1982) is a Canadian former soccer player, coach and pundit who is head coach of Toronto FC's under-17s team, as well as soccer analyst for TSN and colour commentator for OneSoccer. As a player he was a midfielder who played in the Premier League although briefly for Manchester City, he also played in the English Football League for Bury, Macclesfield Town, Shrewsbury Town and Oldham Athletic, with a brief stint in Scotland with Ross County.
