2010–2011 Israel Football League Season
The 2010–2011 Israel Football League season was the fourth season of the Israel Football League (IFL). The league expanded to eight teams with the expansion team Herzliya Hammers and was divided in two divisions: North and South. Regular season The regular season consisted of ten games for each team. Two games (home and away) against each team within the same division, and one game against each of the teams from the other division. Israel Football League
The Israel Football League (IFL; he, ליגת הפוטבול הישראלית), also known as the Kraft Family Israel Football League for sponsorship reasons with the Kraft Family, is an amateur American football league consisting of eight teams. The IFL is the highest level of American football in Israel and each season culminates in the Israel Bowl. The Tel Aviv Pioneers are the reigning Israel Bowl champions, having defeated the Jerusalem Lions in Israel Bowl XIV for their third championship. History Background The original incarnation of the IFL consisted of pick-up games without helmets, pads or referees and was founded in 1999 by a group of football enthusiasts, including Ofri Becker, Gadi Gadot, Ben Friedman, Raviv Faig, Itay Ashkenazi and Ori Shterenbach. Haifa Underdogs
The Underdogs is an American football team based in the north of Israel, playing in the Israeli Football League (IFL). The Underdogs was established at 2005, the year that the IFL was established. In 2007 team became a part of the IFL which was at the time joined under the AFI (American Football in Israel). History The 1990s and 2000s - Unofficial games American football in Haifa has been played weekly since the 1990s and in 2000s (decade) was mainly located at Haifa's "Sportec" field. The games were unofficial, and gathered players from Haifa, Krayot, Nahariya, Ein HaShofet, and from other places in the North of Israel. Parallel to those games, similar games took place at Tel Aviv's "Sportec" field played by the residents of Gush Dan. Once a month or so, friendly games were scheduled between the Haifa's players and Tel Aviv's players. The Be'er Sheva Black Swarm are an amateur American football team based in Be'er Sheva, Israel. The Black Swarm compete in the Israel Football League (IFL). The Beit Shemesh Judean Rebels (up until 2019-Judean Rebels) are an amateur American football team in the Israel Football League. The Rebels represent the city of Beit Shemesh and Gush Etzion settlements and they play their home games at the Beit Shemesh Stadium. The Tel Aviv Pioneers are an amateur American football team based in Tel Aviv, Israel, playing in the Israel Football League (IFL). History The Pioneers were one of the four founding teams of the IFL in 2005. They previously played in Ramat HaSharon and Modi'in but moved to Tel Aviv in 2010. The Pioneers won the Hans Foler Becker Trophy with their victory in Israel Bowl II. The Pioneers next made the Israel Bowl when they lost to the Tel Aviv Sabres in Israel Bowl V.
