2010–11 Venezuelan Primera División Season
The 2010–11 Venezuelan Primera División, Primera División season (officially the 2010–11 Copa CANTV#Movilnet, Movilnet for sponsorship reasons) is the 29th professional season of Venezuela's top-flight football league. Teams Eighteen teams will participate this season, sixteen of whom remain from the previous season. SD Centro Italo Venezolano, Centro Italo Venezolano and Llaneros de Guanare, Llaneros were relegated after accumulating the fewest points in the 2009–10 season aggregate table. They were replaced by Atlético Venezuela and Caroní FC, Caroní, the 2009 Segunda División Apertura runner-up and 2010 Segunda División Clausura winner, respectively. Venezuelan Primera División
The Primera División (; en, First Division), or Liga Venezolana (; en, Venezuelan League) is the top-flight professional football league of Venezuela. It was created in 1921 and turned professional in 1957. It is organized by the Federación Venezolana de Fútbol. Format Starting in the 2020 season, the 20 teams play in a home-and-away round-robin tournament, with the top eight teams advancing to the semi-final stage. In the semi-final stage, the eight teams are divided in two groups of four teams each, facing the other teams in their group twice. The two group winners will advance to the Serie Final to decide the league champions. Deportivo Petare
Petare Fútbol Club (until summer 2010 called Deportivo Italia Fútbol Club and known as Deportivo Petare Fútbol Club until summer 2015) is a Venezuelan football club based in Caracas. Formed in 1948 as "Deportivo Italia F.C.", the club after fifty years merged with "Deportivo Chacao F.C." in 1998, and was called Deportivo Italchacao for eight years. The Estadio Cachamay is part of the Centro Total de Entretenimiento Cachamay (English: The Total Entertainment Center of Cachamay). Maiquetía
Maiquetía is a city located in the Central Region of Venezuela, in the state of Vargas. It is at approximately 19 m above sea level on a small shelf between the Caribbean and the mountains behind it. Caracas, the Venezuelan capital, is approximately 37 km to the southeast. Maiquetía is mainly a commercial center. The historic center has many narrow streets lined with stores and a market. The main road in this part of the city is the Avenida Carlos Soublette. The recent geopolitical divisions in Vargas makes Maiquetía no longer include the Simón Bolívar International Airport, the most important one in the country and the commercial airport serving Caracas. Conviasa, the Venezuelan flag carrier airline, is headquartered in the city.
