2010–11 Iraqi Elite League
The 2010–11 Iraqi Elite League (known as the Asiacell Elite League for sponsorship reasons) was the 37th edition of the competition. The name of the league was changed from ''Iraqi Premier League'' to ''Iraqi Elite League''. The season began on 26 November 2010, and ended on 15 August 2011. Duhok were the defending champions. The season's final was won by Al-Zawraa after defeating Erbil on penalties. This was their 12th title. Iraqi Premier League
The Iraqi Premier League ( ar, الدوري العراقي الممتاز) is the top level of the Iraqi football league system. Contested by 20 clubs, it is operated by the Iraq Football Association (IFA) and operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Iraq Division One. The league was formed by the IFA in 1974 as the Iraqi National Clubs First Division, the first nationwide league of clubs in Iraq. The current format sees 20 teams playing 38 matches each (playing each team in the league twice, home and away), totalling 380 matches in the season. Of the 80 teams to have competed since the inception of the league in 1974, eleven have won the title. Al-Zawraa are the most successful club with 14 titles, followed by Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya, Al-Talaba and Al-Shorta, who together contest the Baghdad derbies. Al-Karkh SC
Al-Karkh Sports Club ( ar, نادي الكرخ الرياضي) is an Iraqi sports club based in Karkh, Baghdad. Its professional football team plays in the Iraqi Premier League, the top tier of the Iraqi football. The club's home stadium is Al-Saher Ahmed Radhi Stadium. Founded in 1963, Al-Karkh was not successful in reaching the top-flight of Iraqi football until Al-Rasheed SC's properties and place in the top division were transferred to Al-Karkh when Al-Rasheed were dissolved in 1990. In 2022, Al-Karkh achieved its first Iraq FA Cup title with a 2–1 victory over Al-Kahrabaa in the final. Al-Kahrabaa Sports Club ( ar, نادي الكهرباء الرياضي, lit=Electricity Club) is an Iraqi professional football club based in the Rusafa District, near the Tigris river, Baghdad, that plays in Iraqi Premier League. History Al-Kahrabaa Sports Club was founded on 21 July 2001 by the Ministry of Electricity. They were promoted to the Iraqi Premier League for the first time for the 2004–05 season where they remained until they got relegated to the Iraq Division One in 2013. Zakho Sport Club, also spelled as Zaxo Sport Club ( ku-2, یانا زاخو یا وهرزشی / ''Yana Zaxo ya Werzişî'') is a sports club based in Zakho, Iraqi Kurdistan. Zakho SC's biggest rivals are also their neighbours Duhok SC, with whom they contest the Bahdinan Derby. Asiacell Telecom Company ( ar, آسياسيل, ku, ئاسیاسێڵ) is an Iraqi telecommunications company that offers mobile phone services and Mobile Internet mainly in Iraq. History Asiacell, the first mobile telecommunications company in Iraq, was established in the city of Sulaymaniyah in the Kurdistan Region in 1999. The 2011–12 Iraqi Elite League (known as the Asiacell Elite League for sponsorship reasons) was the 38th season of the competition since its establishment in 1974. The season began on 29 October 2011 and ended on 20 August 2012. It was played in a home-and-away round-robin format for the first time since the 2002–03 season. Erbil won their fourth league title, earning 83 points from 38 games and losing just one match. Duhok finished as runners-up with Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya in third place. It was initially set to start in October 2009, but was later rescheduled for December as a 36-team league. The season saw Duhok crowned as champions for the first time. Al-Zawraa Sports Club ( ar, نادي الزوراء الرياضي) is an Iraqi sports club based in Utayfia, Karkh District (near Tigris River), Baghdad. Their football team compete in the Iraqi Premier League, the top-flight of Iraqi football. Al-Zawraa are the most decorated club in Iraq having won 14 Premier League titles, 16 Iraq FA Cups and 5 Iraqi Super Cups, all national records.
