2010–11 Basketball Bundesliga
The Basketball Bundesliga 2010–11 was the 45th season of the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL). Prior to the start of the season, a new logo for the league was presented, combined with the motto "Spürst Du das Dribbeln?" ("Do you feel the dribbling?"). The regular season ran from October 1, 2010 through April 23, 2011, and the first round of the playoffs began begin on April 30 and the last match played on June 18. Teams All teams of the season 2009–10, which had qualified for the season 2010–11 by sportive means, have been granted a licence for the season 2010–11. BBC Bayreuth and Cuxhaven BasCats of the Pro A division have qualified by sportive means to play in Basketball Bundesliga 2010–11. BBC Bayreuth have received a licence for the BBL. Basketball Bundesliga
The Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) (English language: ''Federal Basketball League''), for sponsorship reasons named easyCredit BBL, is the highest level league of professional club basketball in Germany. The league comprises 18 teams. A BBL season is split into a league stage and a playoff stage. At the end of the league stage, the top eight teams qualify for the playoff stage, and the teams positioned in the 17th and 18th places are relegated to a lower-tier league. The playoffs are played in a "Best of five" format. The winning team of the final round are crowned the German Champions of that season. In addition to the league competition, all BBL teams compete for the German Basketball Cup. Teams playing in the second league (ProA or ProB), or in a lower level Regionalliga, are also eligible to participate in the BBL-Cup. Phoenix Hagen
Phoenix Hagen is a German professional basketball club that is based in Hagen, Germany. After withdrawing from the Basketball Bundesliga in November 2016, Phoenix Hagen re-launched its basketball team for the 2017-18 ProA season. The ProA is Germany's second division of professional basketball. History The club was founded in May 2004 in the wake of the insolvency of former top club Brandt Hagen. Brandt Hagen was forced to cease club operation in the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) immediately in December 2003. Phoenix Hagen is not the legal successor of Brandt Hagen, but an independent new club founded to continue the basketball tradition in Hagen. Phoenix Hagen was playing in the PRO A division of the German second basketball league until the 2008–09 season. The Oberfrankenhalle is a multi-purpose indoor sporting arena that is located in Bayreuth, Germany. It is a part of the Bayreuth Sports Park, which also includes the Hans-Walter-Wild-Stadion football stadium, an ice rink, and an indoor pool. Bayreuth (, ; bar, Bareid) is a town in northern Bavaria, Germany, on the Red Main river in a valley between the Franconian Jura and the Fichtelgebirge Mountains. The town's roots date back to 1194. Brose Arena (official spelling: brose ARENA) is the third largest multi-functional indoor arena in Bavaria, after the Olympic Hall in Munich, and the Arena Nürnberger Versicherung, in Nuremberg. History The rights relating to the name of the arena, built in 2001, and previously known as Forum Bamberg, were sold to JAKO (a manufacturer of team sports clothing) in March 2006. In connection with this process, building work was carried out to expand the capacity from 4,750 seats for basketball games (6,850 for concerts) to 6,820 for basketball with standing room (nearly 8,000 for concerts).
