2010 Úrvalsdeild
The 2010 season of Úrvalsdeild was the 99th season of top-tier football in Iceland. It was also known as ''Pepsideild'' for sponsoring reasons. It began on 10 May 2010 and ended on 25 September 2010. Breiðablik won their first title, winning the championship on goal difference. Newly promoted sides Haukar and Selfoss were relegated to 1. deild. Úrvalsdeild Karla (football)
The Úrvalsdeild karla (, Men's Select Division) is the highest men's football league in Iceland. It has been played since 1912. Because of the harsh winters in Iceland, it is generally played in the spring and summer (May to September). It is governed by the Football Association of Iceland (KSI) and has 12 teams. By end of season 2015–2016, UEFA ranked the league No. 35 in Europe. From 27 April 2009, the league has had an active agreement on the league's name rights with Ölgerðin, the Icelandic franchisee for Pepsi. From the 2019 season onwards, the league is popularly referred to as Pepsi Max deildin (The Pepsi Max League). The clubs play each other home and away. Kópavogur
Kópavogur () is a town in Iceland that is the country's second largest municipality by population. It lies immediately south of Reykjavík and is part of the Capital Region. Keflavík
Keflavík (pronounced , meaning ''Driftwood Bay'') is a town in the Reykjanes region in southwest Iceland. It is included in the municipality of Reykjanesbær whose population as of 2016 is 15,129. In 1995, Keflavik merged with nearby Njarðvík and Hafnir to form the municipality of Reykjanesbær. Hásteinsvöllur () is a multi-use stadium in Vestmannaeyjar, Iceland. It is located in the town of Vestmannaeyjar on the island of Heimaey. Vestmannaeyjar
Vestmannaeyjar (, sometimes anglicized as Westman Islands) is a municipality and archipelago off the south coast of Iceland. The largest island, Heimaey, has a population of 4,414, most of whom live in the archipelago's main town, Vestmannaeyjabær. The other islands are uninhabited, although six have single hunting cabins. Hlíðarendi () is a multi-purpose stadium in Reykjavík, Iceland. It is the home-court of Valur's football, basketball and handball teams. The football stadium holds 2,465 people, including 1,201 in seats. The indoor court holds 1,300 people in seats. Ásvellir
Ásvellir is a sports venue in Hafnarfjörður, Iceland with a gym, pool, basketball court and football field. Two decades ago in 1996 a company and the Hafnarfjörður council signed an agreement to subsidize the construction of the complex. Finished in 1999, it started to host tournaments in 2000. Refurbishment In 2014, the Ásvellir gym part was refurbished by polishing the gym surface, grinding up the floor and inserting the lines again. Its roof began to leak in October 2016 seeing that there was a storm. Ólafssalur In 2018, a new basketball court in the Ásvellir area was opened. Íþróttafélagið Fylkir is a multi-sport club in Árbær, in the eastern part of Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland. It features departments in football, handball, volleyball, gymnastics and karate. Laugardalsvöllur () is Iceland's national football stadium and the home venue for the Iceland national football team. It is in Reykjavík with a capacity of 9,800. History The idea of building a sport venue in Laugardalur, along with some other entertainment facilities, dates back to 1871. At that time, the population of Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland, was only about 2,000. Laugardalur was also nearly 3 km (1.9 mi) away from residential areas. Little came out of this proposal the next 60 years or so. In 1943, the town council set up the Laugardalsnefnd committee. Its task was to make proposals and ideas for the area.
