2010 San Jose State Spartans Football Team
The 2010 San Jose State Spartans football team represented San Jose State University in the 2010 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Spartans were led by first year head coach Mike MacIntyre. They played their home games at Spartan Stadium and are members of the Western Athletic Conference. They finished the season 1–12, 0–8 in WAC play. Personnel Coaching staff Following the retirement of head coach Dick Tomey at the end of the 2009 season, San Jose State hired Mike MacIntyre as Tomey's replacement. Mike MacIntyre
George Michael MacIntyre (born March 14, 1965) is an American football coach. He is the head coach at FIU Panthers football, FIU. MacIntyre served as the head football coach at San Jose State University from 2010 to 2013 and the University of Colorado Boulder from 2013 to 2018. MacIntyre began his coaching career in 1990 as a graduate assistant at Georgia Bulldogs football, Georgia. From 1992 to 2002, MacIntyre held various assistant coaching positions at Davidson Wildcats football, Davidson, UT Martin Skyhawks football, UT Martin, Temple Owls football, Temple, and Ole Miss. The San Jose State Spartans football team represents San Jose State University, San José State University in NCAA Division I NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision, FBS college football as a member of the Mountain West Conference. History Early history (1893–1970) San Jose State first fielded a football team in 1893 under head coach James E. Addicott. Addicott also served as a math professor at the California State Normal School (now San José State University). The team played a local YMCA club in 1893 and 1894 and garnered its first tie in 1896, a 6–6 decision against nearby rival University of the Pacific (United States), College of the Pacific. Duke Uba Ihenacho (born June 16, 1989) is a former American football strong safety. He played college football at San Jose State. He signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent following the 2012 NFL Draft. He has also played for the Washington Redskins and New York Giants. Bryant Colby Young (born January 27, 1972) is an American former professional football player who was a defensive tackle for the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League (NFL). A first-round draft pick out of University of Notre Dame, Young was nominated for the 2019 class of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, eventually being elected in 2022. College years Young was a three-year starter at Notre Dame, lettering all four years from 1990 to 1993. As a senior, he was an All-American selection, and had 6.5 sacks and 67 tackles.
